Inside U.S. Immigration: A Deep Dive with Steve Maggi When I met Atal Agarwal, I knew I had found a kindred spirit—a connection based on a shared ethos, vision, and struggle: the struggle for acceptance of the immigrant. This shared struggle bonds people who might come from very different cultures and whose lives might not have overlapped if not for the common ground shared as an "outsider." Coming from all over the world, people emigrate and risk it all to start their lives in the U.S., often with a language different than their native tongue, and a social hierarchy that forces them to start again, often from the bottom. They are forced to prove their worth and work many times harder, knowing that no matter how much they progress and thrive, and even if they become U.S. citizens, they will have an asterisk next to their name, as "Argentinian-American" or "French, but a U.S. citizen," etc. Atal was kind enough to interview me about the immigrant experience and my personal and professional perspectives. What we realized was that the more we talked, the more we empathized and understood each other, based on the common struggle that we, our colleagues, neighbors, friends, families, and clients face. On the eve of the presidential elections, we invite you to get our perspective on how all this is experienced as an "outsider" and what the struggle is all about. SMA Immigration Law Firm and Steve Maggi are incredibly proud to be a part of the "Extraordinary Alien Underground," recently featured in a great article in the San Francisco Standard. Steve Maggi recently moderated a panel at the Create the Future Summit in Berkeley, California, which featured clients Sigil Wen and Tord Olav Dønnum, along with another O-1 visa holder, founder Julius Ritter, who discussed their immigrant journeys. Recently, an article featuring both Sigil and Julius was published, detailing the movement within the immigrant founder community in Silicon Valley and the struggles of the O-1 Extraordinary Ability visa process. We are so proud to see how this community is banding together and to be on the ground floor of this movement! #ImmigrationLaw #O1Visa #ExtraordinaryAbility #ImmigrantFounders #SiliconValley #CreateTheFuture #CommunitySupport #ImmigrantJourney #SFAliens #Innovation #Entrepreneurship #SteveMaggi #smalawfirm https://lnkd.in/encvfi9A
