📣 The THUNDER project aims to overcome existing barriers hampering a wide adoption of DCs waste heat recovery strategies, providing an innovative, efficient and cost attractive Seasonal Thermal storage based on Thermochemical Materials. THUNDER solutions stretch across the value chain (data centre innovative storage providers, heat pump manufacturers and district energy company operators). The THUNDER solutions will be validated in field conditions at the Demosite in Bulgaria where the practice of Waste Heat Recovery from Data Centers is not widely diffused thus boosting the market also in those areas.

🚀🌍 The future of innovative seasonal large-scale #thermalenergystorage (TES) is here! On 12 and 13 December, the #USES4HEAT project, funded by EU’s #HorizonEurope Programme, kicked off in Brussels, Belgium, to strongly contribute to the #decarbonisation of European #heating and #cooling by developing and demonstrating two large-scale TES technologies integrated into #districtheating networks! 🔥☄️ ️ Along the two #TES units, it will demonstrate breakthrough enabling technologies managed via intelligent systems including advanced drilling and borehole piping solutions, groundwater to high-temperature low-GWP (global warming potential) heat pumps, enhanced solar hybrid panels or solar thermal collectors, and much more! 🌱🌐 The solutions will harness a variety of locally available renewable energy sources such as #solarthermal or #geothermal but also excess electricity and industrial #wasteheat, capitalizing on their significant untapped potential. 💡 The project will be closely followed by four replication cases across Europe with more to be identified. As such, it will not only support the green transition but also foster the robustness and security of the heating and cooling sector and ensure effective system and sector integration. 🔄 Find out more in our press release: https://lnkd.in/eZTMpABX Silvia Trevisan | Andrew Martin | Rafael Guedez | KTH Royal Institute of Technology | IVL | CARTIF | Università degli Studi di Genova | Fondazione Bruno Kessler - FBK | Hafslund Oslo Celsio | Hallingplast AS |Bengt Dahlgren | Absolicon Solar Collector AB | Lecta | HiRef S.p.A. | Energenius Srl | Maps Group | HYDRA | ENDEF | Euroheat & Power | Energy Institute Hrvoje Požar | Centre for Research & Technology Hellas (CERTH) | Kvarnholmen Utveckling AB | Veolia España | Luciano Lucchi | Aldo Bronzini | Vasileios Panousis
