🌊🚢 Maritime Decarbonization Workshop Recap! 🌱⚓ We had an great session on Wednesday at #SeaTechWeek exploring the future of maritime decarbonization through insightful presentations and discussions. A big thank you to our wonderful speakers and to Campus mondial de la mer for their organization of the Sea Tech Week. Here’s a snapshot of the key highlights: Key Challenges: From technical and regulatory hurdles to the business models for decarbonization, experts dove deep into the complexities the sector faces. Technical solutions: Insights from Conference of Peripheral Maritime Regions (CPMR) and Shannon Foynes Port underlined interest of stakeholders in alternative fuels like green hydrogen and the electrification of port infrastructure. The GICAN presented the comprehensive mapping of levers for decarbonization and the French industry players at each link in key value chains. Paths Forward: Collaboration is essential. The risk of disjointed efforts can be mitigated through coordinated initiatives like SMARTDEC Project and the Atlantic Maritime Strategy. Representatives of French and Irish stakeholders including The Irish Maritime Development Office (IMDO) and Ministère chargé de la Mer et de la Pêche, highlighted key roadmap actions and the importance of energy independence. Common measures to guide evaluation of the highest performing solutions are crucial to allow the timely realization of our transition ambitions. Help from Above: Diana M. of the European Space Agency - ESA discussed the importance of exploring the role of space-based services in addressing maritime decarbonization challenges and presented ESA's open call on the topic. https://lnkd.in/edzW7sSw One key takeaway: the maritime industry is determined to weather the transition to greener operations. With collaboration and innovation, it will continue to drive the future of green global transport. Want to be a part of the change?
