I shouldn’t have favorites, but I do! A highlight of every #UNGA for me is the Social Innovation Summit, where I get to hear first hand from movers, shakers, and changemakers in the #nonprofit space on how they’re using #AI to change the world and accelerate mission-driven work. And what better way to listen to their stories than in front of a fireplace on a rooftop in New York! It was amazing to hear from Karin Maasel at Data Friendly Space (DFS) about how AI is impacting the future of humanitarian work, and Nicolas Jaccard about how Orbis International is using AI to prevent, detect, and treat avoidable blindness. Some Key Takeaways from our inspiring conversation: 1) Responsible AI is key for organizations operating across diverse cultural contexts, ensuring inclusivity, transparency, and respect for local communities. 2) AI-powered systems are bridging the digital divide, empowering local communities, and enabling innovative solutions at scale. 3) Responsible AI development demands rigorous practices in transparency, privacy, and data protection, with continuous learning and adaptation. 4) Effective AI governance strikes a balance between fostering innovation and implementing guardrails for responsible deployment. 5) The future holds exciting AI innovations, from enhanced healthcare accessibility to sustainable resource management, unlocking unprecedented global impact. 6) As we navigate the AI revolution, it's crucial for NGOs to strategically leverage these technologies. Thanks to the team at Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Social Innovation Summit for the great event, and to Lauren Stovall, Laura Bellande, Jana London, Kelley Hecht, and Larkin Timmerman for their continued leadership in this space. #SocialImpact #AI #Sustainability #GlobalDevelopment #AIforgood

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who attended our VIP Dinner: Collective Impact in Mental Health & Wellbeing with lululemon during UN General Assembly week! The energy in the room was truly inspiring and it was a privilege to engage with such a diverse group of professionals, each bringing unique perspectives and insights on the interconnectedness of physical, mental, and social wellbeing. A special highlight was seeing so many partners of the Hidden Healing Fund come together in celebration of their mission to power emerging community-based organizations through impactful grants that address urgent mental health needs in historically marginalized communities. Imagine securing a great job—only to find that your journey to get there is fraught with obstacles. Unreliable public transit, unsafe routes, or simply no transportation options at all. When we talk about #qualityjobs, we often fail to recognize that getting to work can be just as important as the work itself. Safe, reliable transportation can mean the difference between a bad job and a good one, stability and uncertainty, stress and wellbeing. Everyone deserves a safe, reliable, convenient commute. No one should have to compromise their safety to make a living. Together with Cruise and Social Innovation Summit at this year's #UNGA in NYC, we explored this often overlooked barrier to economic opportunity. It was an eye-opening reminder that everyone--from employers to policymakers to community-based organizations--have a responsibility to dismantle the hurdles that stand between the workforce and the quality jobs we all deserve. I was inspired by innovations already underway + the energy to keep this work moving forward from colleagues who joined us, including Harvard University, MIT Solve, Tent Partnership for Refugees, Amazon, Steelcase, Easterseals, SaveLIFE Foundation (SLF), Year Up United, Randstad, Podium Education. Thank you to Amanda Lenaghan for the longstanding Cruise and Jobs for the Future (JFF) partnership that makes these conversations possible. 👏 Caroline Barlerin | Carol Azeez | Zak Miller

Bravo, Social Innovation Summit for yet again another inspiring morning during SIS@UNGA driving forward the change we wish to see in the world! Here are a few key takeaways from the conversation with , CARE, and APCO: 🤝 Collaboration is Key - breaking down silos - partnering across sectors - harnessing local knowledge through data collection and findings sharing 💡Innovation is a Conscious Effort - innovative approaches can reshape but need to be practical and effective to quickly implement, especially during emergency response and crisis incidents. 🌱 Empowering Grassroot Support Systems - Ensuring communities are uplifted, reaching far to the most vulnerable individuals, fostering resilience and aiming for long-term success. ❤️ Never Losing the Human Touch Amidst all the discussions on technology and innovation, maintaining empathy and compassion was a powerful reminder that people are at the heart of what we do. #SocialInnovation #PartnershipsForChange #UNGA #CSR #NGO #Impact CARE Mel O.
