We're happy to share the latest installment in our "6 Questions With..." series! This time, we had the pleasure of sitting down with Matthew Selinske, Senior Social Scientist at Mosaic Insights. 🎤 From a young age, Matthew’s passion for nature was sparked by his family, who nurtured his love for the outdoors. This early connection laid the foundation for his successful academic and professional career, which now focuses on driving behaviour change for conservation through social science. 🌍 In this interview, Matthew shares his unique journey into the world of conservation, the challenges of driving meaningful behaviour change, and the incredible mentors who shaped his path. 💡 🔗 Don't miss out on his insightful perspective — read the full post here: https://lnkd.in/ddMH6eA8 #Conservation #Sustainability #SocialScience #BehaviorChange #IUCN #ConservationScience #IUCNBehaviourChangeTaskForce #WeAreSSC #ConservationWorks #CEC

Pleased to have been part of this initiative. The Ugandan chapter of Society for Conservation Biology is long overdue. It's high time we have a platform that unites all conservationists in the country and also links them to the Conservationists in the other countries and continents. That way, we shall learn from each other, share our experiences, opportunities and collaborative efforts. Thanks to Badru Mugerwa for the leadership and efforts to unite African conservationists through the Society for Conservation Biology

Yesterday I spent most of my day at the African Golden Cat Conservation Alliance(AGCCA) head office in Namulanda which hosted the Inception meeting between Makerere University Conservation Biology Association(MUCOBA) under the patronage of Samuel Ojelel, PhD and the Society for Conservation Biology-African Region under the leadership of Badru Mwezi Mugerwa(gentleman in black t shirt and African print pants) as the President. Discussions were centered around the revival of the Society for Conversation Biology-African Region-Uganda Chapter(SCB-AR-UG) to improve coordination and bring together all Conservationists, Practitioners, Academia, Students, Government bodies and all individuals passionate about the subject of Conservation under a unified umbrella. This comes with benefits including but not limited to; networking, access to publication space in International Conservation Journals, Mentorship programs, Knowledge-sharing, High level Advocacy and greater benefits for grassroots conservation as a whole. We had a presentations from MUCOBA and SCB-AR, identified points of synergy and discussed having Makerere University Conservation Biology Association housed at the Department of Plant Sciences, Microbiology and Biotechnology Makerere University as the focal point for coordinating the revival of the SCB-AR-Ugandan Chapter. As we embark on this tiresome yet enlightening journey, I take this opportunity to call upon all Conservationists, Environmentalists, Botanists, Zoologists, Activists, Government and all other stakeholders to join us in this effort to rejuvenate and streamline the voice of Conservationists in the country. We shall be very grateful to work with all of you. I am glad and proud to be a member of Society for Conservation Biology North America (SCBNA), a past board member, and to serve on its Policy Committee. "We will strengthen [SCBNA's] efforts to support diversity, equity, inclusion, accessibility, and justice among our members and in our work and communities."
Due to recent U.S. federal actions, SCB North America urges elected representatives, civil society organizations & the public to work with us immediately in defending science, scientists & nature.
