Winter is coming, and if you have solar lights from a manufacturer that isn’t Sol, that might be causing you some concern 😨 Will there be enough sunlight to keep your solar lights working? What happens if a blizzard hits and snow blocks the panels? Can lithium freeze?! Stop spiraling. Solar lights are perfectly capable of uninterrupted winter operation so long as they're properly designed for your location. That means: ✅ Enough panels and batteries to collect and store solar energy ✅ The right battery chemistry for the local temperature range ✅ Panels positioned and angled correctly ✅ Adaptive lighting or motion sensing High-efficiency panels and fixtures also don't hurt, ensuring all available energy is harvested and used to its fullest, light-making potential 🔆 More wintery weather goodness here: https://lnkd.in/g-kTettp

It's always a good day when we have something new to share, and today we've got something great: Lithonia Lighting's D-Series LED Floodlight is now available with our EverGen solar engines 🎊 The DSXF1 is perfect for applications with low mounting heights, such as sign, façade, and accent lighting. It offers six distribution patterns, three color temperatures, two mounting heights, and up to 5,500 lumens. Add on the benefits of solar—zero energy costs, no fossil fuels, quick installation, easy maintenance—and we think you'll agree it's a no-brainer😊 Want to get your hands on the shiny new solar spec sheet? 👉https://lnkd.in/gEGPucv7

As hinted last week, we recently had the privilege of working with the City Of Port Alberni to light their Quay to Quay pathway, a years-in-the-making project aimed at improving access to the city's waterfront and other points of interest. Here are our top three takeaways: 🧭 Solar is a viable solution for northern locations With a latitude of 49° and just 8 hours of daylight in winter, Port Alberni might seem like a strange match for solar lighting. But the right batteries, panels, and fixtures can make for a solar-powered system that's just as reliable—if not more—than a grid-tied light. 🔅 Detection makes the difference One of the reasons we're so confident in our systems' long-term reliability is they're equipped with motion sensors that increase light output when activity is detected and dial it down when it's not. This conserves energy and boosts security—win-win! 🤝 Experience builds trust This wasn't the City's first foray into solar lighting. They first tested our lights on a pilot project and monitored them for nearly a year to see if they met their expectations. Spoiler: they did! We were thrilled to work with them again and look forward to continued collaboration in the future. Read the full case study 👉 https://lnkd.in/gKwV7j-b

Celebrating the opening of Parlier, California's newest park 🎉 Located on what was until recently a vacant lot, Fig Tree Park is not only a top-notch place to play, exercise, and shoot the breeze, but a beacon of environmental sustainability. Rainwater-preserving paths, drought-tolerant plants, and—yes—☀️solar lighting💡 do the heavy lifting here, and we were thrilled to be part of a project doing good for people and the planet. https://lnkd.in/gg-8QBFt

Parks and pathways lit up after dark. Streets with ample visibility for drivers and pedestrians. Homes and businesses twinkling with holiday lights. As we move into the darkest months of the year, lighting is a source of safety, comfort, and delight. But our proclivity for light has also become problematic, as light pollution threatens wildlife, ecosystems, and human health. Can we limit the harmful effects of outdoor lighting without sacrificing its benefits? Absolutely! Shielding, motion sensing, and adapting output are just some of the things cities can and are doing to light responsibly. More ideas, here 👉 https://lnkd.in/gtYjhk7Q

What if we told you there was a way to light your development with 🔥ZERO 🔥 upfront costs? What if we told you it was also fast and flexible to install 🛠️, free to power ⚡, and includes maintenance, repairs, and upgrades 🙌? It's not hypothetical. It’s here. Now. Sol has teamed up with financial institutions and outdoor lighting contractors across the U.S. to connect developers with flexible, affordable street lighting solutions 🤝💡 It's called SLaaS—Solar Lighting as a Service—and we just published a new article explaining how it works and why we’re so excited about it. https://lnkd.in/gRpntnqu

Day and night ☀️🌙 Feast your eyes on these absolutely autumnal pics of our systems lining the City Of Port Alberni's Quay to Quay Pathway. The 4km multimodal path connects neighborhoods and residents to the city's storied waterfront, while solar-powered lights provide safety, sustainability, and savings. Watch for the full case study next week, and big thanks to Darran Chaisson for making us look good 💁♀️

And just like that, it's November 🌧️ We can't say we're thrilled about it, but we are thrilled to introduce Jacob Dobson (AKA Jake), our #SOLmate of the month 💕 On paper, Jake is our Product & Technical Services Manager. But identifying customer needs, providing proactive solutions to their problems, and testing the compatibility of our partners' lighting fixtures with our various solar engines only scratches the surface of what he does. Jake’s is the doorway we darken when we have a tricky question about firmware, when we need to know where the Band-Aids are kept (he's our first aid attendant!), or when we run out of printer paper (he's also our office manager!). Outside Sol, Jake enjoys ripping around on his bike, working on various home improvement projects, and spending time with his exceptionally cute children. Thank you for being our 'Jake of all trades'—we couldn't do it without you!

Tonight's the night! ... when pint-sized breakdancers, Beetlejuice characters, and Chipotle burritos will roam the streets soliciting sweets 🍭🍫🍬 And while sugar might be the focus, what kids *really* want is a safe night out in their neighborhood. (Know where we're going with this? 😏) Solar street lighting enhances visibility and helps residents feel safe, without frightening infrastructure costs, tricky installations, and haunting maintenance. It also makes a great last-minute costume—just grab a flashlight and a cardboard 'solar panel' and you're good to go!
