The main types of IBD are #ulcerativecolitis and #Crohn's disease • IBD affects up to 2.5M individuals in the US alone, and prevalence is rising • Risk factors include smoking, poor sleep quality, lack of physical exercise, serious psychological distress and having other comorbid #chronicconditions • IBD symptoms can vary from a mild illness to a condition that causes disability and can lead to life-threatening complications • Symptoms can include diarrhea, pain and cramping, blood in the stool, loss of appetite, unintentional weight loss and fatigue Monitoring and management has historically relied on invasive tests, doctor visits, and symptom-based assessments but wearable technology advancements offer a non-invasive, real-time approach with enhanced quality of life and the ability to predict and proactively manage flare-ups.
