As the construction industry continues to grow, the amount of waste sent to landfill remains a huge issue- over 90% of it is soil and stone. At Sortera, we’re committed to making a positive impact in the communities where we both work and live. That’s why we were thrilled to donate a skip to Living Under One Sun (LUOS), a fantastic local charity and community hub in Tottenham. Led by the amazing Leyla Laksari, LUOS provides vital support to the neighbourhood, from workshops and safe spaces to community activities. The issue of improperly disposed batteries and disposable vapes is a growing challenge in the waste management industry. Over just seven days, our Sortera Rochford depot identified over 1,100 batteries and a similar number of vapes in our waste streams- each one a potential fire hazard.⚠️   At Sortera, we’re committed to responsible waste management and constantly face the challenges that these batteries and vapes bring to our facilities and the environment.
