Disaggregated data would allow policymakers, businesses, and advocates to develop more effective solutions. By making sure that city agencies collect and report data by ethnicity and language spoken, we can ensure that the South Asian and Indo-Caribbean communities, and others who are often overlooked, get the resources and services they need. It’s about making sure that no one slips through the cracks—because every community deserves to be seen, heard, and supported. SAYA is proud to continue working with Councilmember Krishnan and Julie Won, CACF: Coalition for Asian American Children and Families, and all of our community partners to ensure this work gets done. We also strongly encourage all of our elected officials to support this bill.
CACF’s Invisible No More campaign and our ASAP Youth Leaders rallied in City Hall Park on Thursday just before the official unveiling of Intro 1134, a historic new bill that would establish and harmonize race and ethnicity data collection and reporting standards across all NYC agencies. CACF is proud to have worked alongside Councilmember Shekar Krishnan in shaping the language of this bill to ensure AAPI New Yorkers and other diverse communities are truly Invisible No More in New York City. In addition to featuring remarks from CACF’s Co-Executive Director Vanessa Leung, Councilmembers Krishnan and Julie Won, we are also so happy to have featured ASAP Youth Leaders Sabrina and Ashwyn, who both detailed the harms of erasing the nuances of the AAPI experience in data. Our incredible Invisible No More campaign Task Force members Arab-American Family Support Center, Asians Fighting Injustice, Chinese-American Planning Council, KAFSC (Korean American Family Service Center), MALIKAH, NYU Center for the Study of Asian American Health, South Asian Youth Action (SAYA) also spoke out about the importance of stronger data collection and the need for all communities to be seen. As we reflect on this #GivingTuesday, we at South Asian Youth Action want to take a moment to express our heartfelt thanks to all our supporters. We truly could not achieve all that we do without you. Thanks to your generosity, we have been able to: --Empower over 4,000 youth in the last year alone --Award over $1.6M in scholarships to 166 students since 2015 --Expand our programs to 3 new schools, reaching more young people across 11 sites While we’re proud to see that demand for our offerings continues to grow, we also recognize that the resources our communities rely on require ongoing support to ensure we can meet their evolving needs. Your contribution today will help us continue to provide vital mentorship and opportunities for our young people, guiding them toward brighter futures. 🔗 Make your gift today: https://lnkd.in/dzqUaKqZ

We are on a mission to make cricket accessible to youngsters everywhere, providing them with opportunities to thrive both on and off the field. Meet Syeda and Anesh, two passionate young cricket fans we met through South Asian Youth Action (SAYA). Giving them the experience of a lifetime: watching the iconic India vs. Pakistan at the International Cricket Council T20 World Cup. We're proud to bring the spirit of cricket to communities around the world. #DPWorldxICC #SmartLogisticsBeyondBoundaries #SAYA

Congratulations, Lohori! We're so proud of you and know that you are headed towards big, exciting things.
4 years flew by! I am excited to announce that I have officially graduated from Baruch College-Zicklin School of Business with a BBA in Finance, minoring in Psychology. I am deeply grateful for all of the connections I have made over the last four years: Friends, mentors, professors. Every relationship that was cultivated has taught me valuable lessons and instilled confidence for my journey ahead. I am especially shouting out my family (First-Gen Magic!!), Baruch Collegiate Association of Women in Business, BASTA, Scholars of Finance - Baruch Chapter, and South Asian Youth Action (SAYA) for granting me the opportunities to grow and flourish personally and professionally. A major takeaway from the commencement ceremony was that this is not the end, but only the beginning; The class of 24’ is the embodiment of resilience and I believe that this is going to be highlighted in our futures as we enter the workforce with our heads held high. Upon graduating, I am excited to be joining BNY Mellon this summer as an Operations Analyst! Looking forward to embarking on this journey: Creating fascinating experiences, cultivating relationships rooted in mentorship and inspiration.
