  • The week of Thanksgiving is National Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD) Awareness Week. Overindulgence can trigger heartburn, bloating, and regurgitation, but if these symptoms occur regularly despite normal eating habits, you may have GERD. This condition can lead to Barrett’s esophagus, increasing your risk for esophageal cancer. Schedule an evaluation with one of Southwell’s gastroenterologists before the year ends or ask your primary care provider for a referral—the deductible for most insurance plans resets in January. Happy Thanksgiving! #MySouthwell #GERD #BarrettsEsophagus #GastroTifton #GastroValdosta #GastroAdel
