We are grateful to have had Collective Leadership Institute gGmbH's Dominic Stucker kick-off our "International Careers" speaker series as part of the Johannes Gutenberg-Universität Mainz SoWi?So! "Certificate in International Competence" Program! Our students enjoyed an inspiring and interactive talk, which touched on stories and lessons learned from Dominic's time living with his family in a dozen countries around the world. He encouraged students to "Do what makes you feel most alive and trust what emerges" and to always "Approach other cultures with respect, humility, and a desire to learn." Through his career, Dominic has had, in his own words, numerous opportunities to "Work side-by-side with others to help advance shared visions for justice, sustainability, and peace." Paraphrasing Donella Meadows, he ended by urging students to "Stay true to your visions, but flexible about the pathways for realizing them." Commenting on the Certificate in International Competence-Program, an alumni said that it "was fundamental for my growth as a young professional." It is run by Dr. Barbara Elisabeth Müller and Jan Koloska and offers students opportunities to make their studies, teaching, and eventual careers more international.

With six institutes or subject disciplines, Faculty 02 is one of the largest faculties at the Johannes Gutenberg-University. It includes the subjects Educational Science, Political Science, Communication Science, Psychology, Sociology and Sports Science. SoWi?So! helps students to succeed in their studies and offers opportunities to make studies and teaching more international.
