Big news for home electrification! SPAN is proud to be part of a groundbreaking project supported by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE)'s $38.8 million BENEFIT 2024 funding initiative for research and development projects focused on decarbonizing buildings across America. Together with Slipstream and Redwood Energy, SPAN will use BENEFIT 2024 funding from the Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE), U.S. Department of Energy to validate low-power electrification solutions for multifamily buildings. The DoE’s investment will accelerate the development of next-generation building technologies to further enhance energy efficiency and reduce reliance on fossil fuels, underscoring the critical role our built environment plays in achieving a clean energy future—buildings account for a staggering 40% of U.S. energy consumption, and a corresponding share of greenhouse gas emissions. “Slipstream, in partnership with SPAN and Redwood Energy, will validate low-power electrification solutions for 100 multifamily, low-income housing units in 12 buildings. The team will showcase the use of smart electrical panels to fully electrify apartment units with fixed 60-amp service.” Learn more: https://lnkd.in/gkSfhznP
