Intranet security has quickly become one of the biggest priorities for modern workplaces. And for good reason: 70% of data breaches are caused by human error (think phishing emails or weak passwords) Only 23% of security leaders monitor their partners and vendors for cybersecurity risks And only 60% of Americans do not know what steps to take after being a data breach victim It’s time to stop thinking of intranet security as “just an IT problem.” Everyone - HR, comms, and beyond - has a role to play. In our latest blog, we cut through the noise with: ✅ The most common security myths (and the truths you need to know) ✅ Actionable tips to strengthen your intranet and reduce risks ✅ How to build a culture where cybersecurity isn’t just a buzzword. It’s a shared responsibility Read the full blog here: https://lnkd.in/eqmz2jye

Are internal comms and marketing destined to merge into one beautiful, metrics-driven union? Drumroll, please… Nope. And they shouldn’t. Here’s why: 1️⃣ Employees aren’t customers "Start ‘selling’ to employees, and they’ll treat you like a telemarketer." – Lynn Zimmerman, ABC, SCMP® “We need to recognise that IC is so much more than “selling” to our employees.” - Advita Patel "To label Internal Comms “internal marketing” diminishes the spectrum of impact we drive.” - Keith Berman 2️⃣ Trust > Tactics "Internal communicators are helping drive a lot of change, and changing behavior can be more challenging than selling a message.” - Alyssa Towns “I think looking at IC as a marketing tool would be a setback in the progress we’ve made in elevating IC from a tactical practice to a strategic one." - Lynn Zimmerman, ABC, SCMP® 3️⃣ Frontline employees need clarity, not flashy campaigns “There is a risk that we will focus too much on campaigning/branding and not enough on genuine communication and dialogue, which may alienate employees and most likely lead to disengagement.” - Advita Patel 4️⃣ Authenticity FTW “We can borrow from marketing’s creativity and storytelling, but it needs to stay rooted in employee needs AND leadership goals” – Daniel Méndez Aróstica, MBA The takeaway? If internal comms starts feeling like a sales or marketing pitch, we’ve missed the point. I can’t believe today is the last day of 2024! As I look back and reflect on what I can only describe as a whirlwind of a year. I’m proud to share some achievements that have made this year a good one. In April I left my previous role at Buzz Bingo to join The Rank Group and support with the launch of their new communication platform ‘connect’ for the Mecca Bingo and Grosvenor Casino venue teams and what a journey it’s been! Eight months post launch… ⭐ The Mecca teams have an overall activation rate of 90% with all venues on 75% activation or above! ⭐ The Grosvenor teams have achieved over 70% activation and counting! With most of the venue teams being deskless, connect has been instrumental in enhancing communication and it’s been rewarding to see how the platform has developed over the last few months. Beyond the impact of connect, there’s been so many other memorable moments—from new uniform launches to venue refurbishments and even delivering the first Grosvenor Townhall for the current leadership team. But above all, nothing truly beats the time I’ve spent in the venues engaging directly with the colleagues who bring the excitement and energy to Mecca and Grosvenor. From General Managers to Presenters, Front of House teams and Dealers, I’ve met some incredible colleagues this year and I'm looking forward to see what 2025 has in store! Here are some of my favourite pictures I’ve captured along the way.

HAPPY NEW YEAR! Here's some internal comms resolutions for 2025: Write shorter emails (and hope people actually read them) Stop obsessively checking engagement stats (who are we kidding?) Get sign-offs before scheduling announcements Try to send fewer “Just a reminder…” messages Finally create that onboarding FAQ everyone’s been asking for And ofcourse - use Speakap 😉
