  • The Botanical Society of China is at the forefront of phenotyping research through a partnership with the Chinese Academy of Sciences. Research on how environmental factors influence the yield of crops such as rice, wheat, or alfalfa is crucial in developing sustainable agriculture. The NaturaSpec Plus from Spectral Evolution provides a high-resolution spectral signature of the plant and a live field of view of the target sample. It drastically reduces the length of measurement campaigns by eliminating the set up time and geometrical calculations associated with conventional field spectrometers. #innovation #NaturaSpec #NIR #hyperspectral #precisionag #Planthealth #phenotype #science

  • Science has always been about the new. The now. The next. It’s what propels us, feeding our questions and inspiring our work. The constant question and answer form a rhythm, a cadence, a story. Science is a story. A story of infinite possibilities. A story of continuous discoveries. A story of hopeful solutions. It’s the story of our journey; we create what’s next. What’s next for our community. What’s next for discoveries. What’s next for our planet. What’s Next for Science. Next week, American Geophysical Union-AGU24 returns to Washington, D.C. with the theme “What’s Next for Science.” We can’t wait to see you there! Be sure to visit Nicolas Venjean and McKenzie Woodman at Booth #421 to learn more about how the technical advances of Spectral Evolution’s UV-Vis-NIR field spectroradiometers provide a new standard of high-quality data to remote sensing scientists. Spectral Evolution, a global leader in high-performance NIR analytical instrumentation, specializing in high-end UV-Vis-NIR spectrometers and spectroradiometers, is now accepting submissions for the 2025 Research Partnership Program. Researchers with the most groundbreaking research proposals will receive a Spectral Evolution UV-VIS-NIR field spectroradiometer (350nm to 2500nm) for temporary use during the selected research projects. Usage of the instrument is limited to 3 weeks. This initiative supports original, non-traditional, and/or basic research. Though they might be opportunistic, proposals should be creative and strive for success. Researchers from all over the world are eligible. We accept submissions from academic scholars as well as non-profit and government researchers. Each researcher may only submit one submission for consideration. To commemorate our 20 years and acknowledge our long-standing commitment to the field of remote sensing, Spectral Evolution is launching this brand-new program for 2025. Our aim is to further foster an innovative research environment within the global Remote Sensing and Field Spectroscopy community. • ❗ 𝗔𝗽𝗽 𝗡𝗼𝘁𝗲 𝗔𝗹𝗲𝗿𝘁: 𝗔𝘀𝘀𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗦𝗼𝗶𝗹 𝗢𝗿𝗴𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗰 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗯𝗼𝗻 𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗛𝘆𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗨𝗩-𝗩𝗜𝗦-𝗡𝗜𝗥 𝗥𝗲𝗺𝗼𝘁𝗲 𝗦𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 Organic carbon (OC) is the primary energy source for microorganisms in soil. OC triggers nutrient availability for plant growth and plays a critical role in ecosystems. The total organic carbon (TOC) in soil affects color, nutrient capacity (cation and anion exchange capacity-CEC), nutrient stability and turnover, water relationships, aeration, cultivation, plant growth, and health. In the winter seasons, snow cover insulates and protects soil from deep frost. Deep frost can injure plant roots, alter the activity of the soil decomposer community, and cause problems with the TOC composition of the soil. Some abiotic factors, including global climate change and snow management processes by humans, can alter the snowpack and influence the dissolution and mineralization of TOC. These changes in the soil composition in winter can have dire effects on ecosystem processes during the spring growing season. This makes TOC a critical metric to study for environmental and agricultural scientists. 👉Click here to continue reading as well as download the App Note PDF: https://lnkd.in/efhN9M_k 🗓 To schedule a demo of our NaturaSpec line of remote sensing instruments, please visit our website and contact our team of experts today! #remotesensing #climate #research #spectromradiometers #spectroradiometer #nir #spectroscopy #science #satellites #groundtruthing #satellitedata #climatechange #vegetation #soil #soilscience #soilstudies #agriculture #precisionagriculture #organiccarbon #carbon #TOC

The imported cosmetic talc was classified into two groups, considering whether they are packed in the country of origin or in Mexico and considering their price. X-ray diffraction, infrared short wave, thermogravimetric analysis and scanning electron microscopy were used for mineralogical characterization. For the physical characterization, colorimetry and laser granulometry were used. The chemical composition (major, trace elements) was studied by ICP-MS. It was concluded that only the highest priced and imported in packaged form talcs meet the specific purity requirements for a talc of cosmetic type. The talcs that are packed in Mexico and the talc of the studied Mexican deposits present mineralogical and chemical impurities that make their use difficult in the manufacture of high-quality cosmetic talc. The low-price talc should not be sold as cosmetic talc, and the regulations in Mexico on this subject should be reviewed and updated. The analysis by Short Wave Infrared Spectroscopy was performed for all the samples with a portable OreXpress spectrometer and EZ-ID evaluation software.
