Leadership and communication: is your communication impactful? Today I had the privilege of co-leading a module for directors at a global development company on a topic I’m deeply passionate about: leadership and communication. Research shows that a staggering 85% of leaders’ workdays are spent communicating, however many don’t achieve the outcomes they desire. Why? Because they overlook the power of language as a tool to influence and inspire. During the session, we explored how to harness language effectively to build authority, drive collaboration, and create meaningful impact. Thank you to all the participants for your engagement and valuable contributions. I learned so much. It was also my first time co-leading with Sarah Happel Your positivity, expertise, and seamless collaboration made this a truly rewarding experience. Congratulations to Leland Lazarus, Fulbright alumnus to Panama and Dr. Panarat Rohleder,PhD,MBA ,leader of Fulbright’s Women in Leadership event. They both received the 1946 Society Members of the Year Award. I’m proud to be joining them as a fellow Fulbright Association Board Director beginning in January of 2025. This weekend also meant mingling and learning from hundreds of Fulbright scholars at the 47th annual conference, The World at a Crossroads in Washington, DC. Poster sessions, round table discussions, and closing plenary Jim Clifton, chairman of Gallup were all highlights of an amazing weekend packed with some of the hottest topics and biggest thought leaders in education, climate change, AI and technology, diplomacy, the arts and national security. Some of my favorite sessions included: -Crossing boarders through music diplomacy. -Managing climate change & upstream diversions in terminal lakes around the globe. -safeguarding diplomacy: cybersecurity's against disinformation & division  -Creating effective classrooms in the age of AI. -NATO at 75: It’s role in the Euro-Atlantic region & the world. -Understanding & dealing with trauma in todays world. -Community colleges + Fulbright = global access & equity in higher education. A special thanks to Fulbright Association Executive Director Dr. John Bader and his team for leading another fantastic 2 days of in-person global learning and camaraderie.
