    Suicide is the 2nd leading cause of death among individuals aged 10–34 and the 4th leading cause of death for individuals ages 35–44. Those at risk for suicide reported a decrease in suicidal thoughts and depression when they were asked direct, compassionate questions by family and friends. While no one can be responsible for preventing a death by suicide, we can all play a part through awareness and intervention.

    Symptoms of depression were reported 59% more frequently by Hispanic adults than non-Hispanic white adults. There are unique barriers to mental health care that prevent the Hispanic population from reaching out for help, such as associated stigma. Let's normalize mental health treatment in the same way we care for our physical health. There's hope. There's help.
