🐟 Leading the Way in Sustainable Fisheries 🐟 Resonance supports Walton Family Foundation in leading a consortium of organizations focused on developing and adopting science-based policies for tuna fisheries in Indonesian waters.  Through a multi-stakeholder approach, we're working to improve fisher livelihoods, enhance sustainability, and protect marine resources. In #Rwanda, nearly 40% of the food production is lost or wasted annually. The Circular Food Systems for Rwanda project aims to transform Rwanda's food system, one business at a time, by helping them minimize waste and maximize resources. This project, which is funded by IKEA Foundation and implemented by WRI Africa, Resonance, and a consortium of circular partners, is now funding 13 diverse agri-food entrepreneurs across the country to boost their resource efficiency and reduce waste in their operations. What will the incoming #Trump presidency mean for US #ForeignAssistance?     Our Chief Innovation Officer Steve Schmida has laid out 6 trends to watch out for in 2025 and beyond. Among them:    1) The Focus on Self-Reliance Resumes > During Trump’s first term, the Journey to Self Reliance (J2SR) was one of the signature initiatives.  With key elements of J2SR carried forward by the Biden Administration, expect J2SR to continue in one form or another in the next Trump Administration.   2) Consolidation of Agencies and Programs > As part of a broader government-wide effort to improve government efficiency, it is possible that we see a consolidation of US Foreign Assistance at the Agency level.  We are also likely to see a reduction of the number of countries receiving foreign assistance to focus on those perceived to be more aligned with US interests.  3) Greater Emphasis on Partnerships and Private Sector Engagement > The last Trump Administration greatly accelerated private sector engagement with the creation of the Agency’s first PSE Policy. Private sector actors can play a pivotal role in responding to humanitarian crises. This was certainly the case after the #earthquake in #Türkiye in February 2023, where companies like Amazon, Chobani, Miyamoto and Koç Holding stepped up in a major way, showcasing the power of private sector engagement in disaster response. This USAID - Bureau for Humanitarian Assistance article, based on a research study conducted by Resonance in Türkiye, highlights the critical role these companies played in responding to the humanitarian crisis in Türkiye, and shares insight into how public-private cooperation enhanced the effectiveness and scale of the response!
