KeyShawn Brown, Revenue Cycle Manager and former Administrative Fellow at St. Elizabeth Healthcare, weighs in on what Juneteenth means to him. "In celebrating Juneteenth, we honor the past, celebrate progress, and recommit to a future of equality and freedom. Today remembers African American freedom and emphasizes education and achievement. This is why I am always eager to acknowledge and celebrate with deep reverence, since Juneteenth represents the resilience and triumph of Black history and America. I am thankful for my learned experiences as an Administrative Fellow and frequent exposure to senior leadership and decision-making processes at the highest levels of a healthcare system. I have had so much support and mentorship from so many great leaders during my administrative fellowship. I am glad to have begun and continue my adventure in Northern Kentucky enhancing healthcare quality and delivering the best patient outcomes." #juneteenth #equalityandfreedom #stelizabethnky #cincy

Renee Lightner, Practice Manager at St. Elizabeth’s Women’s Health, reminds us that we not only take care of patients but also take care of each other. 💛 In January, Renee visited the Emergency Department for what she thought were kidney stones, but it turned out to be Stage III Renal Cell Carcinoma. She received immediate support from her co-workers, not only with healthcare but with encouragement and offers to lend a helping hand. Renee underwent successful surgery to remove her kidney with Dr. Balaji Kalyanaramen and continued her immunotherapy sessions with Dr. Matthew Kotlove. During these sessions, she encountered recurring uterine and fibroid cysts, along with thyroid issues, meaning she would not be able to have surgery for the cysts. Her providers sprang into action to ensure that she would be cleared for surgery and got her an appointment with Dr. Yancey Holmes. Renee expressed her gratitude for the speedy appointment and was able to be cleared. She is scheduled for another surgery soon, and when talking about the staff and their treatment, she says, “How much more could you ask for when you are in a fight for your life?” We are proud of our staff for taking care of our patients like they are part of their own family and know that they’re right there for Renee every step of the way.🏥 To learn more about Cancer Care at St. Elizabeth, visit: https://lnkd.in/g6Ma8FuF #STEProud #TeamSupport #InThisTogether #StElizabethnky

In February 2024, Julianna Langdon became an Emergency Department volunteer to experience firsthand how nurses and medical staff help others. Julianna stated she is “eager to learn and see other areas in the hospital because she is interested in pursuing a career as either a Nurse, Physician or Medical Malpractice Lawyer.” Her commitment to St. Elizabeth is shared by her father, Dr. Steven Langdon, a Family Practice Physician at St. Elizabeth who works just across the street from the Dearborn Hospital where Julianna volunteers. So far, Julianna’s favorite part about volunteering is watching the nurses interact with patients. She shares that she has been blessed to volunteer alongside many amazing nurses who have allowed her to observe in her extra time and to see patient care firsthand. We appreciate Dr. Langdon and all the other father figures in our community who help share their passions and commitments! 💙 To find out more about volunteering opportunities, click the link: https://lnkd.in/gVuePEnb #volunteers #fathersday #stelizabethnky #stelizabethhealthcare
