Lucas’s journey with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) began in February 2023 with sore feet and ankles—initially thought to be growing pains. While on vacation, his discomfort worsened, and by March 3, his pain was unbearable. A trip to the #ER confirmed every parent's worst fear: #leukemia. 💔 Diagnosed with high-risk ALL, Lucas has endured intense treatment, including 10 cranial #radiation treatments in February 2024. Though he faced severe side effects like Somnolence Syndrome, - side effect of radiation that left him sleeping nearly 20 hours a day, with no appetite or energy - his resilience amazed medical staff. His final #chemotherapy dose is set for July 11, 2025—860 days after his battle began. Through it all, coined “everyone’s friend,” Lucas remains kind and compassionate, bringing joy to those around him. He loves biking, fishing, #VR, Squishmallows, and making stress-relief gifts for classmates and medical staff. #Golf has been his escape, keeping him active even during isolation. His strength and kindness inspire everyone who meets him. 💛 Inspired by Lucas’ story? 【Acts of Love and Courage】 At Hong Kong International School, a powerful act of solidarity unfolds each year—the St. Baldrick’s head-shaving event. This isn’t just about shaving heads; it’s about standing with children who bravely battle cancer, many of whom lose their hair during treatment. Now in its 18th year, this meaningful tradition continues to inspire. This year, over 50 students, teachers, and supporters took part, raising crucial funds for childhood cancer research through the Children’s Cancer Foundation. Their dedication fuels medical advancements, lifesaving treatments, and hope for young patients and their families. We applaud these extraordinary individuals for their courage and compassion. Their actions prove that small gestures can create big impacts. Together, we are making a difference! #ChildrensCancerFoundation #ChildhoodCancer #HeadShaving #MakingADifference #HopeForChildren #StrongerTogether

Charlie is a bright, energetic little girl who loves dancing, swimming, and creating art. But behind her joyful spirit is a journey of resilience and strength. At just three, she was diagnosed with Stage 4 mixed germ cell #cancer after months of misdiagnosed symptoms. She endured 18 months of #chemotherapy and surgeries, finally reaching no evidence of disease (NED) status—only for cancer to return in August 2024. With unwavering courage, she faced more #treatment and once again showed no evidence of disease in December. 🙌 Charlie’s story is a powerful reminder of the strength of children facing cancer and the urgent need for continued #research. #ResearchIsHope and you can give kids a fighting chance at life: https://ow.ly/yGEX50V1FXg #researchmatters #childhoodcancer #childhoodcancerresearch #pediatriccancer #nonprofit #charity

I’m excited to share that on March 24th, I’ll be shaving my head as part of a St. Baldrick’s Day event hosted by my medical school, Des Moines University. St. Baldrick's Foundation is a remarkable foundation dedicated to funding childhood cancer research, and I’m honored to participate in this initiative to support such an important cause. By shaving my head, I aim to stand in solidarity with the brave children battling cancer and help raise awareness and funds for lifesaving research. This is a small way for me to contribute to a brighter future for these kids and their families. If you’re able, I’d greatly appreciate your support! Donations of any amount make a difference, and you can contribute through the link I’ve included below. I’ll be sure to post an update after the event to share the results and express my gratitude to everyone who helped make this possible. Thank you for considering supporting this meaningful cause—together, we can make a real impact. https://lnkd.in/gNJXyAg9
