This prestigious initiative underscores our unwavering commitment to delivering exceptional learning experiences and outcomes for our students. As part of this strategic collaboration, St Dominic’s will become a centre of excellence in research-informed practice, with key objectives to: • Foster a strong culture of research engagement and inquiry within the school; • Develop an evidence-informed approach to school evaluation and development; • Ensure research informs the design of staff professional learning and development; • Support staff in critically engaging with research to enhance their practice; • Offer students opportunities to engage with research and collaborate on projects with Queen’s University Belfast staff; • Strengthen research collaboration within and beyond St Dominic's; • Embed and sustain research engagement across the school’s structures and practices. Principal Mrs O’Neill expressed her pride in this achievement, stating: “St Dominic’s has been leading the way in education since 1870. The Dominican Sisters who founded our school were trailblazers, and we honour their legacy by continuously innovating to meet the needs of contemporary society. Our Dominican ethos inspires us to embrace excellence, inquiry, and service. This partnership with Queen’s will not only provide bespoke training and mentorship for our staff but will also enrich our students’ educational journey, equipping them with the skills and insights needed for lifelong success.” Professor Daniel Muijs, Head of the School of Social Sciences, Education, and Social Work at Queen’s University, added: “Through this initiative, St Dominic’s will become a hub of inquiry, reflection, and innovation. This collaboration offers access to bespoke training, mentorship, and resources, enabling staff and students to adopt a research-oriented mindset and lead the way in educational innovation.” Head Girl Caitlin Crookes also shared her thoughts: “This initiative highlights our teachers’ commitment to lifelong learning. Their engagement with cutting-edge research and dedication to refining their teaching practices set an inspiring example for us as students. It encourages us to view education not as a task but as a lifelong journey.” This partnership marks an exciting new chapter for St Dominic’s as we continue to lead in educational innovation, and ensuring that our students have access to the very best learning and teaching.
