Celebrating Our Commitment to Veterans and Military Talent
By Tammy Fornelius Zelenbaba✦, VP of Talent Strategy
It is with great honor that we share ST Engineering North America (STENA)’s recognition as a 2025 Military Friendly® Employer. This award is a testament to our company-wide dedication to supporting veterans through meaningful opportunities and impactful initiatives.
At STENA we take immense pride in the strides we’ve made to honor, support, and engage with the military community. Our Talent Acquisition (TA) Team has been a driving force behind these efforts, and I also want to personally recognize and thank each of our STENA Business Unit leaders for their support in helping us recruit and hire exceptional military talent.
In 2024, our TA Team significantly expanded its veteran outreach efforts, executing partnerships with leading military and veteran organizations to bridge the gap between service and meaningful civilian careers. These initiatives include agreements with:
DOD Skillbridge
Hiring Our Heroes
DOD Transition Assistance Program (DODTAP)
P3 and Next OP
U.S. Army PaYs Program
These partnerships enable us to offer transitioning service members, reservists, National Guard members, and ROTC cadets a range of career pathways and professional development opportunities.
A highlight of these efforts was our participation in the U.S. Army’s PaYs Program (Partnership for Your Success) ceremony hosted at the ST Engineering MRAS facility. During this special event, Tim McBride, STENA President shared:
“We are dedicated to empowering veterans with a broad range of opportunities, including career pathways, hands-on internships, mentorship, educational support, and tailored talent development initiatives.”
Additionally, Erich Schmitt, Veteran Outreach Recruiter and program coordinator, reflected on the impact of these efforts and the pride and gratitude made so far.
A particularly exciting milestone for STENA is the launch of our new Employee Resource Group (ERG) for veterans which aims to foster camaraderie, mentorship, and ongoing support for those who have served in the military and now continue their journey with us.
This November, our Business Units also took the time to honor the dedication and sacrifice of employees who served in the armed forces by hosting special Veterans Day celebrations. These heartfelt events were a testament to our gratitude for their service and as we look toward the future, we remain steadfast in our mission to provide veterans with fulfilling careers and a supportive community. Together, we can continue to grow as an employer of choice for military talent and ensure their valuable skills and perspectives enrich every corner of our organization.
If you are employed in the US and interested in joining the Veteran’s Employee Resource Group, please email Erich.Schmitt@stengg.us.
Let’s continue to lead with purpose, compassion, and excellence.
