It’s with a heavy heart that we announce Mr. Charles Newsome passed away on December 28th. Charles joined the Stalite/Johnson Concrete family in 1968 as General Manager and led the companies for fifty years. When Charles started, Stalite was made using sintering machines and its furthest customer was 125 miles away in Columbia, SC. When he retired, Stalite was operating eight rotary kilns with patented technology and shipping material all over the world as an industry leader in structural lightweight aggregate. We are who we are because of Charles, and he will be missed dearly.
