🌍✨ Today, on the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, I'm proud to announce the release of the 3rd IOC consensus statement on interpersonal violence and safeguarding in sport. Olympics.com story here: https://lnkd.in/dtbSkMZG This statement represents the collective effort of 15 global experts and a meticulous review that retrieved nearly 25,000 studies in 9 languages. It underscores a critical truth: while interpersonal violence disproportionately impacts women, Black, disabled, and other athletes experiencing marginalization, solutions are within reach. As the first African woman and Stanford faculty to chair an IOC consensus panel, this milestone is deeply personal. Sport has the power to unite and inspire, but it must first become a space for all who participate to thrive. I’m grateful to my incredible co-authors for their hard work and dedication. Together, we're not just identifying the problems but also paving the way for meaningful change. Let’s ensure sport fulfills its true potential to elevate athletes--and all of us.
