AWARD Climate Action Fellowship launches with 47 African women professionals from Benin, Cameroon, Ghana, Kenya, Malawi, and Senegal. This two-year program addresses a critical gap: increasing women's leadership in climate action while developing agricultural innovations that meet the specific needs of women smallholders across Africa. By equipping these fellows with leadership skills and gender integration expertise, AWARD is building a powerful network of climate leaders who understand the unique challenges facing African agricultural systems. We're thrilled to share highlights from our recent Founder's Breakfast session, where our Venture Studio cohort connected with seasoned entrepreneurs in Africa. 📚New research reveals how rising temperatures in West Africa are threatening 70% of global cocoa production, pushing prices to record highs. 👨🌾Farmers who receive just 6% of a chocolate bar's price are struggling to adapt as climate change creates increasingly hostile growing conditions. Sustainable solutions exist—from shade trees to improved agricultural subsidies—but require greater investment and fairer compensation for farmers.
