The new Public Health Lab for the County of San Diego is taking shape! Scheduled to open in late spring 2025, this two-story, 52,000 SF building is located at the County Operations Center (COC), continuing Steinberg Hart's decades-long commitment to serving San Diego County. After completing the COC site's 1.4M SF master plan nearly 20 years ago, we continued to help shape the campus, delivering the COC Registrar of Voters Building, the Sheriff's Technology Information Center (STIC), and the county's emergency communications center, among others. Now, this Public Health Lab will greatly expand the county’s ability to test for infectious diseases and pathogens, monitor food and water safety, and provide teaching and training opportunities for public health microbiologists and hospital partners in the community. The state-of-the-art lab will be three times larger than the County’s previous facility, and will be a regional resource, serving as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Lab for San Diego and Imperial Counties. We are honored to be a part of delivering this important public resource. Thanks to our Steinberg Hart Team, Dan Stewart AIA, AICP, Jason Maune, Lina Asad, Hannah Hobbs, and our partners with Lowe, BNBuilders, Project Management Advisors, Inc., and more!
