Today we'd like to recognize Pete Miller, our Volunteer of the Year for 2024! Pete is what you might call a ‘professional volunteer.’ Aside from St. Johns Riverkeeper, he gives his time and talents to many causes in the community. He’s racked up more than 30 hours over the course of 2024 helping us with a variety of activities. Pete can always be relied upon to go above and beyond expectations. He is the best example of how AWESOME our volunteers are! Thank you Pete! https://lnkd.in/dHh9fnqw

“Five student teams from Saldaña Ochoa’s FLUID Design Studio in collaboration with UF DCP Instructional Assistant Professor Michael Montoya, a hybrid class that includes both first-and second-year graduate students from Jacksonville and Gainesville, collaborated closely with the St. Johns Riverkeeper organization to develop plans for revitalizing the Pope Place and Gold Merit ash disposal sites into safe, accessible and sustainable public spaces.” https://lnkd.in/eWNhNXnt #ResilientRibault

Our education team has reached ‼️ more than 4,000 students ‼️ this year with their programs! For future generations to truly understand the importance of the St. Johns River, they must have opportunities to experience and learn about the ecology and wildlife of the river. We had to highlight this awesome event we had recently with Sciencesis again! Support St. Johns Riverkeeper with a year-end gift and bolster our impactful programs reaching thousands of local students every year. https://lnkd.in/eVcPWbY7

Thank you to everyone who joined us at Azalea City Brewing Company this week at our 2024 #SAVeOurRiversGrasses Expedition Report Release! We are always energized by the passion of fellow river enthusiasts, residents, anglers and other locals who care about the St. Johns and the work we are doing to improve the health of its grasses. While there is not a silver bullet solution that will SAVe our river’s grass, we must take a holistic, watershed-wide approach to tackle SAV stress and restore ideal conditions for our river’s grass. If you want to dive into the full report and our findings over the past two years, visit https://lnkd.in/dnRs4EAH
