  • We are celebrating the rebirth of our beautiful girl Zoe, who we adopted in June. From the beginning, she was not well with constant upper respiratory infections and fevers. Last month, she became very ill. Upon taking her to a new veterinarian, they assessed all her symptoms and performed an ultrasound of her abdomen and ran blood work. The ultrasound showed fluid in her abdomen and the veterinarian suspected FIP, which is feline infectious peritonitis. There is no definitive test for this viral disease which is often fatal, and diagnosis is made through bloodwork analysis all of which indicated Zoe had FIP. I have volunteered at the animal shelter for eleven years and have seen this in several cats and none survived. Incredibly, this past June a new antiviral drug GS-441524 was approved for use. After an agonizing week waiting for the test results, the veterinarian agreed to call the medication into Stokes compounding pharmacy in NJ. At this point, she was so sick she was dying before our eyes. We overnighted the treatment and started her on it the next day, and within 24 hours we started to see improvement! She has been on the antiviral treatment now for 36 days and will continue for 84 days (1 easy pill per day.) She just went for a recheck this week and had bloodwork and ultrasound done which confirmed that she is doing amazing.!!! What a miraculous breakthrough to have this drug available to save the sweetest of babies such as Zoe. I am praying this will save so many more cats, and that’s why I wanted to post this to make people aware. You can Google it and read more about it. She is now happily playing like a kitten with her brother from another mother who we adopted in March. ❤️

  • Thank you, Dawn, for sharing this wonderful testimonial with us! Blue was diagnosed with ocular FIP and thankfully Dr. Ethan Hefner from the Animal Eye Care Associates caught it early enough to prescribe Bova GS-441524 from Stokes Pharmacy. Up until recently, FIP was a 100% fatal disease. Stokes Pharmacy is proud to have partnered with Bova Aus to bring this unique formulation of medicine to the United States 🥰

  • Once species become extinct, there is no bringing them back. Since biodiversity loss has been led by human actions, it is our urgent responsibility to change our ways. There are many things you can do on World Wildlife Conservation Day (and every day!) that will help to protect our fellow creatures that call Earth their home. Sign wildlife positions from organizations like WWF, World Animal Protection, Born Free, and Four Paws to help support protecting wildlife. Boycott the purchase of animal projects and look for alternatives (you won’t be able to tell the difference!) Check out https://lnkd.in/ewneuzmP for more information!
