✈️ U.S. Marine Corps in Action Over Norway!❄️ A U.S. Marine Corps pilot from Marine Fighter Attack Squadron (VMFA) 312, 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing recently took to the skies in an F/A-18D Hornet over Andenes, Norway, during routine flight operations in preparation for Exercise Nordic Response. Formerly known as Cold Response, Exercise Nordic Response is a NATO-led training event held every two years, designed to enhance military proficiency in Arctic conditions and strengthen interoperability between the U.S. Marine Corps and allied nations. On March 27, 1999 the F-117, piloted by Lt. Col. Dale Zelko callsign "Vega 31", was shot down by the 3rd Battalion of the 250th Air Defense Missile Brigade of the Yugoslav Army. The weapon used was a Soviet-designed S-125 Neva (NATO designation SA-3 Goa) surface-to-air missile system. In Russian documental chronics only one POV was presented that F-117 Nighthawk invisible only for NATO radars but for USSR radars the #Nighthawk was completely visible. But the true Key Factors are different and one of them is 🔻 Tactical Predictability: The F-117s had been flying similar routes repeatedly during the early days of the campaign, departing from Aviano Air Base in Italy. This #predictability allowed Yugoslav forces to anticipate flight paths, unlike during the Gulf War, where routes were varied. #Cuttingedge technologies were implemented in the #development of these aircraft, now integrated into civil aviation. F-117 fighter squadrons conducted hundreds of #sorties, with only one aircraft lost.
