Exciting news! Our new Organic Cookie Dough Ice Cream is a 2025 NEXTY Awards finalist. These awards celebrate products that embody innovation, inspiration, and integrity in the natural and organic industry, and we’re honored to be recognized among such an incredible group of brands. From over 1,000 submissions, only 161 finalists were selected across 34 categories. Each product was carefully evaluated through multiple rounds of judging by the experts at New Hope Network and Natural Products Expo, making this recognition even more meaningful. The future of local organic dairy is under threat. Due to a recent settlement in Point Reyes National Seashore, two of our 13 supplying dairy farms will be shutting down—a loss that affects our entire farming community. Marin County has already seen a 33% decline in dairies over the past decade, and with demand for Straus dairy growing, these closures pose a real challenge. This isn’t just about Straus—it’s about the broader movement to protect sustainable farming in our region. Family farms need access to essential land and infrastructure to continue producing local, organic food. We remain committed to supporting our farmers and advocating for balanced solutions that preserve both agriculture and open space.

Today marks 31 years of Straus Family Creamery! What started in 1994 as a vision for a more sustainable dairy model has grown into a pioneering company dedicated to regenerative organic farming, carbon neutrality, and supporting family farms. This milestone is a testament to the dedication of our farmers, employees, and partners who continue to innovate and uphold the highest standards in organic dairy. As we look toward the future, we remain focused on advancing sustainable agriculture and building a stronger food system—one that benefits farmers, communities, and the planet. Supporting our community means more than producing organic dairy—it’s about ensuring everyone has access to nourishing food. In 2024, we donated over 100,000 pounds of dairy products to the Redwood Empire Food Bank! That’s a whole lot of milk, butter, and yogurt helping to fight hunger and reduce food waste right here in Sonoma County. We’re proud to stand alongside incredible organizations like REFB in the fight against hunger.

🌱 This past weekend, Albert Straus, Founder of Straus Family Creamery, had the privilege of attending a meaningful event at Chez Panisse Restaurant hosted by Conscious Kitchen in partnership with Turning Green. It was an inspiring evening with some of the most influential voices in sustainable food and education. The event brought together passionate advocates for a healthier, more sustainable future, including Alice Waters, Judi Shils, Carlo Mondavi, and Tony Thurmond, California State Superintendent of Public Instruction. Conversations around the importance of sustainable agriculture, healthy school meals, and nurturing our communities were at the forefront.
