It was an honor and a pleasure to create the visual identity for the memorial of Mostafa Asadollahi, the late Iranian graphic designer. The main key visual of this identity was inspired by the poster for the 5th Iranian Graphic Design Biennial, which Mr. Asadollahi himself had designed. Mostafa Asadollahi (1950-2024) was a distinguished figure in Iranian graphic design, known for his minimalist approach and innovative style2. He was among the first graduates of the Graphic Design program at the University of Tehran's Faculty of Fine Arts in 19764. Throughout his career, Asadollahi balanced simplicity with cultural richness, incorporating elements of classical Iranian art into his modernist and constructivist-influenced designs2. Asadollahi's contributions to Iranian graphic design were significant. He was a founding member of the Iranian Graphic Designers Society (IGDS) and served as its chairman12. His work, characterized by geometric precision and refined aesthetics, earned him numerous awards and accolades14. As an educator, Asadollahi shaped future generations of Iranian designers at prestigious institutions, leaving an enduring legacy that continues to inspire designers today2. Last April, in continuation of our collaboration with the "Graduate Center for Literary Research" at UCSB, we designed a series of posters for the event "Situating Recent Iranian Modern and Contemporary Art Scholarship." This event consisted of three sessions, where three distinguished scholars, each of whom has recently published a work on Iranian art in the 20th century, will come together. These authors will participate in discussions with emerging scholars working in the field of Iranian art, facilitating a dynamic exchange of ideas.
