We’ve been fortunate to work with Meredith and her team on multiple projects and every time, we’re reminded of how cool she and her team are and how valuable the work they’re doing is. They embody quality, empathy, and community — which aligns perfectly with their commitment to making the law accessible and affordable to all. Thank you, Meredith!

It’s fun to think about where we started and how we got here. For Jess, one of her very first jobs after college was at a literacy nonprofit in the Bay Area. It was there that she encountered the “one person, many hats” mindset that it takes to work at a nonprofit. It was also there that she taught herself how to use Adobe InDesign to create a reading events calendar. The artwork came from kids who participated in the organization’s 6th Annual Reading Poster Art Contest, and through a color-coded guide, families could find activities appropriate for their children. For someone who had never used InDesign before, it got the job done! Today, she’s all too happy to turn design work over to Elisa, a true powerhouse of design, but the mindset of limited resources, major impact has stayed with Jess. It’s part of why she loves the work she does now! Do you have something that has stuck with you throughout the career?

While it may feel like there are two Americas right now, nonprofit leaders working on the front lines of our most pressing societal problems have a unique opportunity to reinforce the strength of our communities with the incoming administration. Check out this recent article from our clients, 20 Degrees, recently published in the Chronicle of Philanthropy and get your organization squared away. (We’re so honored to have been a part of getting these important words out there!)

There’s been a noticeable shift in how we communicate — to volunteers, to donors, and even within our own internal communications to staff. Some people are fans of emojis, finding them to be a shorthand to convey emotions, while others find emojis to be unprofessional and silly. So: emojis for nonprofits — yay or nay? That all depends! When it comes to using emojis in nonprofit communications, we suggest considering accessibility, your audience, relevance, and your brand. (Pro tip: you can visit our blog to learn more!)

Thank you, Maryland Nonprofits for such a great event! And now we'll be spending the next few days recovering from all that listening and connecting. (Even Elisa, who is an extrovert to the extreme, needs some recovery time.)
Kudos to Maryland Nonprofits on their 2024 conference! It was my first time attending (but not my last!) and I loved the camaraderie between attendees, speakers, and organizers alike. There were some standout sessions where I learned new approaches to storytelling, community building, and capacity building. There were so many fun and interesting people to talk to. And it was heartening to know that I was in a room full of people who are equally committed to bringing their best selves to do the best work we can while learning as much as we can. Thank you for the experience! (And cheers to your new brand!)

One year ago, a very pregnant Jess and a very excited Elisa decided they wanted to keep working together. They knew it would take a few months to get all the ducks in a row (hi, new baby and general mom-ing) but the momentum was there and they wanted to seize the moment. While we didn’t officially launch until February 2024, there was a LOT happening behind the scenes! So celebrate this milestone with us of Sunny Side Creative being born into existence!

Every year, the Wilmer Eye Institute at Johns Hopkins Medicine attends the American Academy of Ophthalmology’s annual meeting, where "all of ophthalmology meets." It’s where esteemed researchers are recognized for their contributions to the field, where the latest in eye research is shared and discussed, and where practitioners can enhance their skills and knowledge through hands-on learning opportunities and continuing medical education credits. In short, it’s a big deal — which meant Wilmer’s materials needed to be eye-catching to stand out. When it came to copy, we wanted language that was dynamic and action-oriented. And when it came to design, we wanted to create a sense of visual consistency across materials. That meant incorporating the logo for Wilmer’s upcoming Centennial celebration, the Wilmer mark which contains the infamous dome, and circles to create dimension and depth throughout. Our deliverables included digital ads to promote Wilmer speakers that would be presenting at AAO; invitations to an alumni event where current and former members of the Wilmer community could reconnect; posters promoting faculty who were being recognized for their contributions to the field; and emails that encouraged AAO attendees to learn more about Wilmer. With a successful AAO behind us, now we get to turn our attention to the next big thing: the Centennial!

Did you know our #Website process is all about making your website look and sound like you? When you work with us, we incorporate #SEO best practices right into the planning process before moving into #Copywriting, which allows us to maximize your digital presence in search results. From there, we move into the fun part: design! And then, we hunker down for development before we bring this bad baby into the world. You’re our partner every step of the way. If your website is in need of a refresh, let’s talk! https://lnkd.in/eZkkDBPU
