Early adopters will always validate the space, causing an illusion of broad market interest. Being in the trenches of development on the C1X, we’ve validated that the current market is not quite ready for high-powered, large format two-wheel electric mobility. I'm terrified to think of where SUPER73 would be today had we rushed through development to bring something to market a bit sooner. Those that wish to push the limits and economic boundaries in pursuit of the title of “first to market” are being met with devastating consequences. I remember watching the Metacycle saga unravel in real time; now they’re a name in an ever-growing list of names who have fallen to the same fate. SUPER73, Inc. is committed to continued development on the high-powered frontier, but not at the risk of our operation and continued survival. We’ve done too much and come too far to fall the way these other players have in the last few months. I believe our answer to the motorcycle space will be as disruptive as our bikes once were, but only as the stars align. We’re looking forward to seeing how this next season plays out and we’re committed to pushing the boundaries in a sustainable and conservative manner. We’ve got compelling stuff in the works for those who have joined us on our development journey and we’re so grateful to exist to continue to do that work. #electric #electricmobility #motorcycles #ev #electricvehicles #electricbikes

Electric motorcycle brand Energica have entered “into a bankruptcy judicial liquidation”. We already know Cake went bankrupt. Livewire lost $109m selling just 660 units in 2023. If it weren't for Harley they'd be dead. Damon and the like will almost certainly be DOA (if they ever launch a product). I almost failed high school maths and physics, and even I could work out with a basic google sheet that — within the constraints of the current technology — electric motorcycles only make sense in urban stop-start environments for short trips with modest performance requirements.  Electric touring, cruising, sports or racing bikes are suboptimal use cases where it is not yet possible to get a compelling combination of performance, range, weight and price. As a consequence, the adoption barriers are too high for most buyers, chief of which is the presence of superior alternatives. Only curious geeks overpay for underperforming products just because they use new technology. And there aren’t enough curious geeks in the world to sustain a motorcycle manufacturer, least of all a new entrant with all the capital expenditure. Every entrepreneur knows that when the timing is wrong, everything is wrong. BMW know it which is why they killed their concept electric sports bike. When the market talks, it is prudent to listen.

Founder and Co-CEO at SUPER73, Inc.

Six years ago today, Aaron P. Wong, myself, and the team at SUPER73, Inc. were hard at work building speeder bikes from Star Wars. Why? Because since the very first bike we ever built, we always figured that if we are having fun doing something, others will as well. The bikes were created to serve as the focal point of a video done by YouTubers Casey Neistat and Jesse Wellens, and while there were no cross-branding opportunities, we agreed to it "for the plot." As a lifelong Star Wars fan and co-founder of a VERY young SUPER73 at the time, this marriage of work and play was something from my dreams and proof that with the right approach, your hobbies, passions, and work can join together to create magic. Despite internal doubts, we took a leap of faith, investing resources in a passion project rather than directly into a traditional marketing approach. Today, with an aggregated 100 Million+ views, that video is not only referenced in investor decks, case studies, and by Star Wars itself, but has proved to be the single piece of content that brought celebrities like Will Smith, Snoop Dogg, and dozens of brands and creators to our doorstep in search of the remarkable. What seemed to some as a distraction at the time, void of traditional branding and marketing opportunities turned into a cornerstone of the foundation we built the creative approach on that has served us successfully ever since. When Aaron P. Wong and I took over the seat of CEO at SUPER73, Inc., we knew we had a big job ahead of us. Our customer service satisfaction had slipped to the lowest point and unanswered tickets were piling up. The painful truth was that our current ratings had nothing to do with the incredible team on the front lines, but instead the challenging decisions we had to make over the past year. As we grew from the chaos of 2020, our focus shifted, driven by new dollars in the business and "endless" possibilities. What was once a humble electric bike company, focused on the community who adored us and the adventures we gave them had transformed into a machine, hungry for growth and expansion into new modes of transportation and untapped markets. When the industry settled and reality tore through the business, we were left to make hard decisions to ensure survival through this next season. Unfortunately, removing resources from all departments including our robust customer service team became inevitable. From those ashes, the remaining employees rallied to do their best with the situation they were given. Without complaint, they worked tirelessly to get through as many tickets as possible and keep as many customers on the road as they could. It was no easy task, but as I share this, I am proud to say that the team is almost on the other side of this. Taking marketing dollars and putting them into re-expanding our customer service team and their capabilities are proving to be one of the best decisions we've made in a long time. With the mountain of unresolved tickets almost completely dissolved and bikes back on the road, we've spent this past week celebrating our dedicated and resilient team on the front line. One notable moment to share is the excellence and celebration of our 5 year veteran Roderick (Rick) Kerfoot, who, as of last week, celebrated 25,000 positive customer interactions over his time at SUPER73. With hundreds of thousands of riders on the road, I cannot express the gratitude our company has for Rick and the rest of the team who work around the clock to keep the wheels spinning. If not for these incredible people, there would be no reason to operate the business. We do what we do for the community and we will never make the mistake of deprioritizing that again. Without community, SUPER73 has no reason to exist and without our customer service team, we have no right to exist. I am incredibly grateful for their patience, strength, and good humored nature as we've gone through this last season. SUPER73 still has an incredible amount of work to do and customer trust to win back, but we do it knowing that with people like Rick, Mac, Alyssa, Ish, Austin, Josh, Bree, Heidi, Brent, Matthew, Hector, Matt, and Chris on our team, there's a reason to keep fighting for a better SUPER73. #super73 #electricbikes #customerservice #customersatisfaction

Since 2016, I have been incredibly attached to our community and our customers through our marketing outreach. I feel like that attachment has put me in such a unique position as Aaron P. Wong and I begin to tackle all of the different areas of the business that we want to engage with. Here is the first in a series of videos we're launching on our YouTube channel. The goal of these videos is to pull back the curtain, show a behind-the-scenes look at the decisions we make, and engage with our customers directly as we build and rebuild the future of SUPER73, Inc.. I'm excited to see how this evolves.
