Thank you for framing the debate, Daniel L. Smith. Procurement and finance must work together to unlock untapped datasets. https://lnkd.in/gSMQv9DK
Procurement said, "About $25M." Finance: "Minimally $80M." Same retail company and scope. _____ On a first call, a retail company procurement leader told me his company has about $25M in annual indirect spend. (Indirect = non-merchandise supplies and services used to run operations.) Then, the CFO connected me with his Controller (runs accounts payables). His estimate: $80M. 220% difference! How does that happen? Manual data entry. Ton of off-PO spending. Purchase cards everywhere. Purchases buried in store budgets. Wildly different spend category definitions. Distribution centers with shadow procurement. All this leads to a spend visibility problem. Procurement mostly sees "official" spend through negotiated contracts. AP has the ground truth on actual spending. Very different views. _____ Procurement↔️Finance team partnerships are the unlock. This particular company's duo started with spend visibility but didn't stop there - they collaborated to address those underlying problems.☝️ - Standardized spend categories. - Killed p-cards. Then, digitized POs and made them mandatory - Made preferred supplier buying super easy vs. policing unapproved purchases Outcomes: 🎯 reporting accuracy 👀 clear indirect spending insights 🏆 double-digit percentage savings But... before they fixed it, who do you think was closest to being right, Finance or Procurement? 🤔 #Procurement #Retail #RetailTech #RetailOperations

What an honor to receive recognition as a Customer Favorite in the 2024 #SpendMatters Solution Map. Thank you Jason Busch, Carina Kuhl (she/her), Jessica Gertler and the entire team at SpendMatters for this call-out ...and incentive to continue investing in world class customer success. #solutionmap SpendMatters recently published its “SolutionMap Insider” and I am delighted to learn that Suplari was recognized as a “2024 Customer Favorite.” The survey of over 90 solution providers concluded that Suplari offers among the industry’s most exceptional “customer service,” demonstrated by its “ability to adapt to changing business needs” and matched by an innovative “ever-evolving product.” As the CEO of Suplari, my goal is to make tech usable, effective and efficient. This means making sure that our customer service is as exceptional as our innovation and vision. We are thrilled to learn our customers gave us high reviews on our user experience as well as our exceptional spend analytics and actionable insights.” To me, the strength of our platform relies on our intuitive User Experience backed by a world class customer success team. For those who may be unfamiliar with this recognition, SpendMatters is known to provide “the most data-centric functionality assessment of procurement technologies in the industry.” Their SolutionMap Insider put Suplari along with over 90 procurement technology vendors through “rigorous functionality and capability assessments via 500+ RFI requirements across 15 kinds of procurement technology solutions, with mandatory demos and impartial, anonymized customer ratings.” Through my work in software for many years, I’ve learned that implementing innovative solutions goes hand-in-hand with delivering customer service that exceeds expectations. Our recognition as an industry leader by SpendMatters will not be just another accolade, it will be a constant reminder that Suplari can and will achieve new heights in customer satisfaction. Now, the Suplari team must work harder to maintain and increase this metric. It is extremely important to me and my team that every solution that Suplari releases outperforms expectations among our users. On behalf of the entire Suplari team, I want to thank our customers for their input that allowed us to achieve this honor. We look forward to continuing our journey at Suplari and helping our customers achieve their goals.
