Over the past several years, I have had the opportunity to discuss insights into The Hackett Group Inc.’s Key Issues research with Aylin Basom and Daniel Dorr from Supplier.io. Together, we shared our perspectives on what we anticipate for the upcoming year and contrasted it with our experiences over the past year. While cost reduction has remained and further solidified as procurement's top priority globally for 2025, several areas have elevated their priority over the past year. These include operating model and digital transformation, supplier sustainability, and a new entrant to the top 10, supplier relationship enhancement. In terms of procurement capability improvement, like 2024, data analytics and talent management top the list. Additionally, contract management, third-party risk management, supplier performance management, and generative AI have all been elevated over 2024 as more focused areas for improvement. Hackett’s research scope covered many other areas, including analytics, COE capabilities, and AI, as well as procurement technology adoption. Interestingly, over one-third of participating organizations will be investing to upgrade their existing sustainability/ESG (including supplier diversity) technology, while two-thirds highlight that their investments in this area either met or exceeded their expectations. While uncertainty remains, especially in the first quarter, procurement is certainly readying themselves and their organizations for whatever may unfold.
From our Preparing for 2025 #webinar in December, Chris Sawchuk of The Hackett Group Inc. reviews the shifts and changes they've seen in #procurement organizations in 2024, and what to expect in 2025. If you missed the convo, you can get the webinar on-demand here: https://hubs.la/Q030_DYr0
