About us
The St. Vincent de Paul Society of Lane County, Inc. was established in 1954 and is the largest nonprofit human services organization in Lane County, Oregon. Our mission is to "assist the poor and those in need of consolation, seeking out and utilizing every resource. Being mindful of the sanctity and dignity of all, any charitable work that advances those goals is within the mission of St. Vincent de Paul." We are committed to providing comprehensive programs to alleviate poverty and help all individuals find a path out of poverty and into self-sufficiency. Our main programmatic focuses are: Affordable housing: more than 1,500 units have been developed since 1988 and expanded to eight mobile home park restoration and management across Lane and Multnomah counties. Emergency services: includes food boxes, vouchers to our retail thrift stores, rent and utilities assistance, and various supply drives throughout the year. Homeless services: Single adults, youth, and families have access to restrooms, showers, laundry and access to overnight shelters with resources aiding in finding permanent housing. We also have a specific program for Veterans and their families that provide opportunities for transition after drug/addiction treatment and housing support. Recycle programs: in 2019, SVDP recycled more than 37 million pounds of material that would have crowded landfills. Retail Thrift Stores: our waste-based enterprises like our thrift stores, used car lot, and online book sales fund our life-stabilizing programs and allows us to serve more vulnerable members of our community. All of these programs just scratch the surface of SVDP's commitment to ending the cycle of homelessness. Your support and advocacy ensures a stronger neighborhood, community, and world.

Thank you to all of our amazing volunteers, donors, and staff who came together to feed more than 2,000 individuals and families during St. Vincent de Paul Lane County's Holiday Food Drive. Being able to feed community members in need is at the core of what our organization is all about, finding a need and filling it. We chose to do this holiday food box distribution the Saturday before Christmas because we realized that while there are many food programs around Thanksgiving, there are surprisingly less during the December holiday season and so St. Vincent de Paul and our faith partners came together to fill the gap in services! St. Vincent de Paul Lane County has been helping with food insecurity since the 1981 and we are excited to continue this program for years to come! #foodboxes #svdp #nonprofit #stvincentdepaul #holidayprograms

Starting today (January 1, 2025) St. Vincent de Paul Lane County in accordance with Oregon's new stewardship law (Senate Bill 1576) will be accepting mattresses from the general public at our recycling facility at 1770 Prairie Road Eugene, OR 97402. Community members can bring us their mattresses for recycling free of charge Monday - Friday 8am-4pm. As the nation's first viable mattress recycling program and a world leader in waste-based business, we are proud to see Oregon follow suit with states like California in order to reduce our environmental impact. St. Vincent de Paul currently has one of the most robust mattress recycling facilities in Lane County and is positioned to accept this increased volume of mattresses for recycling. Last year SVdP through our subsidiary DR3 diverted more than 400,000 mattresses from landfills in California and Oregon. #mattressrecycling #svdp #nonprofit #recycling #environmentalstewardship
