🏈Flag Football: A Game-Changer for Africa’s Sports Scene When you think of football in Africa, legends like Drogba or Salah come to mind. And it’s about more than just the game—flag football is empowering youth, fostering education, and uniting communities. 🏆 Promoting Unity & Investment in African Sports 🌍 🌍Africa’s sports scene is alive with talent and passion, uniting people across cultures and borders. But recent events, like Nigeria’s Super Eagles’ challenging experience in Libya, reveal gaps in our path to a truly unified sports ecosystem. 🇳🇬The Nigerian Super Eagles were stranded at Al Abraq International Airport in Libya for over 20 hours without access to basic amenities like food, water, and communication. The team was diverted to a different airport from their planned destination, leading to a delay and challenging conditions. 💭Imagine the potential of a unified Africa—where sports not only drive economic growth but also attract global investment. From the success of AfCFTA to CAF's response to ensure fair play, there’s a clear call for stronger collaboration. 🌟Dive into the full story here and discover how Africa can achieve unity for sports development in just a click 🔗 : https://lnkd.in/d3_4CmAE

What an honour to have been invited to join the 21st edition of the Columbia Africa Conference in New York as a panel guest discussing The Landscape of African Sports. This year’s theme was Navigating Disruption: Strategies for Africa’s Resilience and Transformation. I met and heard from many incredible young Africans studying and working around the US and other parts of world, striving to make their mark as change-makers and proud African youth. I left deeply inspired by the profound love we all share for our home countries and the relentless pursuit for a better, progressive and more united Africa. To the organisers, thank you for having me and giving me a platform to share our work at SWA Sports. It was a pleasure to meet my incredible co-panelist Marvellous Iheukwumere, sports attorney and former athlete. Thank you to my sisters Rukayya Ibrahim Iyayi & Batouly Camara M.S. for your presence, feedback and support. I look forward to more ways to connect our like minds in driving sports development by Africans for Africa at future events and initiatives. Columbia Business School Columbia Africa Conference

As part of our commitment to developing the business ecosystem of African sports, our president, Aisha Shuaibu joined industry experts at the 21st Columbia Africa Conference in New York to discuss the Landscape of African Sports: Current Trends and Future Prospects. Aisha explored the business prospects surrounding the growth of basketball and American football on the continent and opportunities to look out for in the fast-evolving industry. This gathering brought together some of the brightest African minds—students, professionals, and change-makers—who share a common goal: to drive development on the continent and elevate Africa’s presence on the global stage. Big appreciation to the Columbia Africa Conference for creating this platform, and we applaud their dedication to connecting African youth with the resources and networks they need to lead.
