We’re empowering volunteers and donors across the country to help win critical elections.

About us

Swing Left is a national grassroots organization working to elect Democrats up and down the ballot. We make it possible for anyone to make a real impact on the elections that determine the balance of power in our country, by volunteering and donating in key races. Since launching in 2017, Swing Left volunteers have raised more than $40 million for more than 300 candidates and civic organizations and made more than 40 million combined phone calls, door knocks, and letters sent to voters via its affiliate Vote Forward and their partners. • Our affiliate, Vote Forward, has launched its first letter writing campaign of the year! Starting right now, you can write letters to voters who could make the difference in the critical Wisconsin Supreme Court election on April 1st. This year’s election could either preserve the Court’s existing liberal ideological balance, or shift it to a 4-3 conservative majority. And the consequences aren’t limited to just one state—Wisconsin is a critical swing state in national elections, so what happens here in 2025 could impact control of the U.S. House in 2026 and even the presidency in 2028. • We’re in. Swing Left is joining the fight in the first competitive state race this year to have real, national consequences and put a check on Trump: the upcoming Wisconsin Supreme Court election. On April 1st, Wisconsin voters will have the chance to prevent a conservative takeover of the Wisconsin Supreme Court by voting to maintain a progressive 4-3 majority. You can take strategic action now by volunteering or donating to help liberal Judge Susan Crawford win a seat. The stakes are high. On a national scale, this election could determine which party wins control of the House in 2026 and the White House in 2028—as the outcomes of these races will likely be contested in court in Wisconsin, an uber-competitive battleground state. It will also impact rulings in Wisconsin on abortion access, gerrymandering, voting rights, and workers’ rights. But, it’ll be a super close race. Groups like the ultra-conservative Americans for Prosperity are spending millions of dollars to support the conservative candidate. This is projected to be the most expensive judicial race in our nation's history! Here’s what you can do right now to take action: Volunteer from anywhere. Call voters to let them know about this critical election and help them make a plan to vote. Knock doors in Wisconsin. Join a canvassing event, if you’re local or traveling to Wisconsin. Donate. Contribute directly to Judge Crawford & WisDems to support their organizing efforts for this race. Or, create and share a personal fundraising page to raise money together with your friends, family, and neighbors. We know there's lots of anger and frustration right now, in many directions. We feel that way, too. But Republicans want us to feel confused, misaligned, and hopeless. The reality is: we do have power. Join us in the fight for the Wisconsin Supreme Court—and let’s turn anxiety into strategic action. swingleft.org/wi

  • Our Executive Director Yasmin Radjy shares an honest take on where things are and what you can meaningfully do in the weeks and months ahead to help stop Trump. Read an excerpt of her letter below, or in full at this link: https://lnkd.in/dB4HfCkD To state the obvious: We’re in a very different paradigm from the 2017 Resistance era. No one in Trump’s orbit gives a damn about the rule of law. In this new environment, what does it mean to actually win? The answer lies in working now to help Democrats take back majority control, from state houses to the White House. (Yes, even if we’re pissed off at some of them right now.) Because unless we have power through majorities, we can’t stop Trump. To be clear, it’s fair to criticize Democrats for not doing more to push back assertively and swiftly on the MAGA Republican agenda. For communicating ineffectively with voters in the first place. I know many of you are working through our partners to pressure Democrats to do more and be better. Still, electing Democrats and ensuring they have a governing majority is the only way to end this chaos. The alternative is an authoritarian regime enabled by billionaires and Congress’ spineless Republican leaders who refuse to stand up to Trump. Eight years ago, Swing Left was founded for this very purpose: to channel grassroots volunteer and donor energy to key swing races, helping Democrats win and put a check on Trump. We took back the House in 2018, and we can do it again. Here’s what that work looks like now and what to expect from us at Swing Left: #1: Our top priorities in 2025 and 2026 are winning Democratic power in the states and winning back control of the House of Representatives. #2: Stay tuned for how you can help win the first election that can put a state-level check on Trump: the upcoming Wisconsin Supreme Court race. Next month, we’ll release our game plan to win back the House in the 2026 midterms–including what you can do now to build the foundation for victory in 600+ days (which will fly by!). #3: In the meantime, we’ll continue to pressure the Democratic party to improve its grassroots infrastructure and analyze our programs to ensure that every action Swing Left sends your way continues to be data-driven, strategic, and highly impactful. I know this moment feels hard. Trump’s executive orders are awful, and the mass confusion they’ve created over the past 20 days is by design. But his changes haven’t been written into legislation, and they aren’t durable if we respond.

Undoubtedly, today is a somber day for our democracy and for us all. Many of us—particularly the LGBTQ+ community, those living in poverty, people of color, women, immigrants, and all those who have been and will be disproportionately impacted by Trump’s hateful policies—will need our support throughout the next four years. But this community is uniquely qualified and ready for this moment, and we won’t stop fighting—we never have. So, today, instead of focusing on Trump, let’s recalibrate and recommit to the work ahead to protect voting rights and vulnerable communities. After all, as Vice President Kamala Harris reminded us, “Sometimes the fight takes a while—that doesn’t mean we won’t win.” Join us: swingleft.org

      +1
  • Each election cycle, Swing Left’s political experts spend countless hours determining the races up and down the ballot where this community’s time and resources will mean the most. This year was no different, with Swing Left donors and volunteers focusing on close races where, in many cases, Democratic victories meant breaking up a GOP supermajority, flipping a state legislature, or preventing a GOP landslide.
