  • It’s no secret that for many of our young people, football is more than just a sport—it’s a place where aspirations, impact, and personal growth come together. However, turning that passion into a meaningful career comes with its fair share of hurdles. We have been getting a tranche of feedback from across the sport to see what these challenges are. Funding rises to the top of everyone’s challenge list. From start-up nonprofits to grassroots coaches, the pursuit of financial support is often an uphill climb. Pair that with the pressing call to use football as a catalyst for social good—whether that’s cutting carbon footprints or empowering disadvantaged groups in sport—and you quickly realise football isn’t just what you see on the TV. We also know that working in football can often be a daily juggling act for young people. Especially in their early careers: individuals trying to balance multiple training sessions while simultaneously securing advanced credentials in sports management, or singlehandedly running a foundation aimed at community development. Meanwhile, some feel stymied by industry gatekeepers, left to figure out how to “open doors” that otherwise seem locked to newcomers. We understand that some deeper social challenges can contribute here: financial inequalities, limited access to networks, and shifting cultural values around the role of sport. At szn one, we know how vital young people are to the future of the game we all love. They will create the new innovations, democratise different aspects of the sport, and be the true pioneers of inclusivity and impact. This is why we are building the szn one regen community. When people come together under a shared vision, collective creativity and resource-sharing can spark real change. We’re bridging knowledge gaps, connecting people across borders, and tapping into collective energy to ensure the next generation doesn’t just dream of a better football—they actively build it. • When it comes to creating success within our footballing organisations and clubs, there are some fundamentals that must be implemented across teams and hierarchy. Trust and psychological safety. Employees need to feel heard, listened to and given the environment to flourish in every aspect of their roles. Ignoring these two principles can be catastrophic to business success. Here is what culture designer for some of the worlds largest companies Dan Strode has to say about it when he joined szn one professor Dr. Jacob Naish and co-founder Matt Warner for a chat. • As part of our early 2025 plans for SZN ONE, we're going to be making some proposals to our OGs'. Who are our 'OGs'? Glad you asked 😜 Our Regen OGs' are the first people in our community along with Matt Warner Ben Mee and Dr. Jacob Naish. They were the first cohort to go through our Regen Leaders Program. 33 brilliant people between 18 and 26 all hungry to develop their place in the sport we love (which if you haven't figured it out already, is football). Now we are going to show them our plans for 2025 and get their input. We'll get their valuable insights, adapt, and then get going. We have a goal to expand the community to 500 people over the next 12 weeks. Interested? There are still some free spots on the waitlist (link in comments). Why should you join Szn One? Glad you asked, (again!): we're the new university of great football where technology and the future of our sport collide. We're humans, and although we're not shy about using tech - and teaching about it - to benefit our people, we're rooted to self discovery for YOU and meaningful connection between us all around our common ground - Football. If that sounds fun to you, throw your email in the link below and we'll be back to you soon with how to sign up. Free places within the community will not last forever, so get your details in! • Last week we celebrated the end of our first regen leaders program with our learners and football friends at the Brentford Community stadium. Listening to our leaders vision for the future of the game and how the program has helped shape their curiosity, self-discovery and connection to the community has been incredibly inspiring and helps us set the foundations for 2025. Thank you to everyone who attended and made the night so special. Want to be a part of the szn one community in 2025? • As a community, place and space to own and shape the future of our sport, we see the intersection of Football and technology and a key determinant of the future space that it will inhabit. From increased player ownership of rights and performance data to fans deepening their interactions with their favourite players and clubs through blockchain, digital assets and wearable tech; the democratisation of football and its future success will be influenced by the young people that populate the sport combined with their ability to think, ideate, create and collaborate with others who share the same philosophy. SZN ONE co-founder Ben Mee gives a little insight into where he see's that future.
