#YearInReview: 2024 has been a year of innovation, impact, and growth for TAAF. We’ve been on the ground floor of supporting new initiatives, launched first-of-their kind studies, and invested in organizations and people making meaningful change. We’ve also taken time to listen and learn from deep conversations with community leaders, grantees, partners, and others to better serve our community. And we remain steadfast in our mission to advocate for the safety, belonging and prosperity for all AANHPIs not just this year, but every year. Thank you for your dedication and commitment to working together to ensure a brighter future for the AANHPI community. Our shared work is just beginning.

“Authentic representation in media is about more than just visibility—it’s about creating a sense of belonging for our communities, and fostering greater safety and prosperity,” said Norman Chen, CEO of TAAF. “When our stories are told by us with depth and complexity, they can challenge and dismantle stereotypes, strengthen our shared identity, and contribute to a more inclusive society where everyone can thrive.” TAAF is proud to be partnering with Sundance Institute for the third year of the Sundance Institute | The Asian American Foundation Fellowship and Scholarship to provide AANHPI artists working in film and television with professional development resources and opportunities to connect with peers and mentors. The Fellowship program provides six AANHPI artists with creative guidance, practical support, and a $20,000 unrestricted grant, while the Scholarship includes a year-long artist development experience that offers mentorship from a Sundance artist alumnus, personalized career and project support, and opportunities to engage with Sundance staff and the broader creative community virtually and in person at the Sundance Film Festival. We are grateful to our founding partners Panda Restaurant Group and MacArthur Foundation for making this possible. Visit https://lnkd.in/gRp2wgma to learn more.

TAAF was proud to join United States Postal Service in Boston earlier this month to unveil their 2025 Lunar New Year commemorative stamp, celebrating the Year of the Snake! Asian Americans are the fastest growing population in the United States, and the visibility and representation of our community is incredibly important to our sense of our belonging. In fact, our 2024 STAATUS Index revealed that only 38% of AAPIs feel that they belong in this country—the lowest of any racial group. This is why it is so important to increase the awareness of different cultures and celebrations—such as Lunar New Year—to help those within our community feel seen, while showing others a small piece of our rich cultural heritage.
