Today is Human Rights Day, a day to celebrate the adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights by the United Nations in 1948. This year’s theme is Our Rights, Our Future, Right Now. 🌎 “This year’s theme is a call to acknowledge the importance and relevance of human rights in our everyday lives. We have an opportunity to change perceptions by speaking up against hate speech, correcting misinformation and countering disinformation. This is the time to mobilize action to reinvigorate a global movement for human rights.” (un.org) #HumanRightsDay #TLHLeonCSWG

As we move into December, let’s continue to be thankful for the gift of learning and remember why it’s important to support our girls’ education 🍂📚. Take time to appreciate the small moments—like reading together or supporting your child’s growth in school. Grateful for every day they learn and grow. 🧡 #ThankfulForLearning #Gratitude #ReadTogether

DYK: It was only 50 years ago that women were allowed to get a credit card of their own! On October 28th, 1974 President Gerald Ford signed The Equal Credit Opportunity Act into law. And then it wasn't until 2021, that added protection for sexual orientation and gender identity discrimination was included. This most recent protection has allowed everyone to have full access to the U.S. credit industry. #TLHLeonCSWG #FinancialEmpowerment #womenfinancialfreedom Learn More Here: https://bit.ly/50YearsECOA

DYK: There is a memorial in Washington, D.C. dedicated to just to women veterans and it's only 27 years old?!? After the dedication of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in 1983, World War II women veterans raised the concern about being left out of history and that it was time to honor them, “What about us? We served, too.” In 1986 President Ronald Reagan signed into law a bill that authorized the establishment of "a memorial on Federal lands in the District of Columbia and its environs to honor women who have served in the Armed Forces of the United States,” and in 1997 the Military Women's Memorial opened! The Military Women’s Memorial honors and tells the stories of women, past and present, who serve our nation and is a one-of-a-kind tribute to America’s Servicewomen. The Memorial features an education center, interactive exhibits, and a world-class collection of military women’s stories. #HerService #HerStory #HerLegacy Learn more about the memorial here: https://lnkd.in/e25s-xG #TLHLeonCSWG #WomenInService #RecognitionMatters

On Ingenious People Day, we honor remarkable Seminole women like Louise Jones Gopher of the Brighton Indian Reservation in Okeechobee, who was the first female member of the Seminole Tribe of Florida to earn a college degree. We also celebrate Betty Mae Tiger Jumper, the first female chief of the Seminole Tribe, whose leadership and advocacy for Native rights have left a lasting legacy. From leaders and storytellers to artists and activists, their contributions reflect a deep connection to heritage and a commitment to progress. Let’s uplift and honor their achievements and others, recognizing the vital role they play in shaping our history and future.#IngeniousPeopleDay #SeminoleWomen #LegacyOfStrength #CulturalPride #Trailblazers #TLhLeonCSWG
