It’s hard to believe it’s already been a year since I joined Smart Agro Hub, a spin-off of the Agricultural University of Athens and a leading competence centre in smart farming. This journey has been incredibly rewarding, filled with inspiring collaborations and innovative projects. WATSON– Developing tools to detect and prevent food fraud across the food industry. 5. EXCEL4MED – Strengthening innovation ecosystems in the Mediterranean region. 6. TALLHEDA – Building a digital agriculture alliance in Greece and Serbia. 7. NextGenBioPest – Boosting crop yields and controling challenging pests & pathogens with minimal pesticide use. 8. SOSFood Project – Leveraging AI to drive a green transition in food systems, empowering stakeholders with data-driven, multi-scale insights 9. FOODGUARD – Developing innovative, microbiome-based solutions to extend food shelf life, reduce waste, and enhance food quality and safety. 10. MI4SaferFOOD – Using multispectral imaging to meet food safety and traceability goals (cascade of FOODITY) 11. TRUSTFOOD – Design and delivering short-term training courses for upskilling and reskilling of the labour force in the Food Supply Chain 12. PROVER project – Promoting Vertical Farming as a sustainable agricultural method in the Western Balkans. 13. A few days ago, I had the opportunity to connect remotely with students at the Agricultural University of Athens and share my experiences from the TALLHEDA Summer School in Ghent. It was an insightful experience that showcased the potential of AI and smart technologies in revolutionizing food systems. Special thanks to TALLHEDA for organizing this event and fostering a community of collaborative learning and innovation.

On October 22nd, the Agricultural University of Athens (AUA) hosted a successful Multiplier Event, where participants from the TALLHEDA Ghent Summer School shared their inspiring experiences and insights with AUA students and faculty.
