Can’t wait to reveal Version 4 of my Synthesia avatar. Here we are behind the scenes capturing ‘her’ (NinAI) this week.🎬 The Synthesia R&D team has been pushing the boundaries of video-generation technology, and the results are nothing short of groundbreaking. It still astonishes me that video generation is something that can be distilled down to software. 🤯 I had the pleasure of working with Tosin Oshinyemi, the legendary Director of Synthesia’s studio. Our paths first crossed with the release of DALL-E, which was revolutionary at the time. But the pace of innovation in AI is breathtaking, and now, DALL-E seems quaint. Tosin shared a valuable insight during our session: to truly “capture” me in my avatar, I had to deliver my best performance. While AI can synthesize my biometrics, the essence of capturing my “best self” relies on my collaboration with the technology. This process, of course, is fully consensual. I use my avatar as an educational tool in my keynote. (And wow - can she make an impact! ) This stands in stark contrast to the unethical use of similar technologies, such as in the creation of deepfake content without consent. This journey underscores the dual nature of AI: a powerful tool that can be wielded for great benefit or harm. The intent behind its use—whether to educate or to inflict damage—determines its value in our lives. AI’s versatility in enhancing human creativity and intelligence is profound, yet it is our responsibility to guide its application ethically.
