About us
The Tampa Bay Health and Medical Preparedness Coalition (Tampa Bay HMPC) is a collaborative network of healthcare organizations, and their respective public and private sector response partners, that serve as a multi-agency coordinating group to enhance healthcare system preparedness, response, recovery, and mitigation activities. Healthcare Coalitions (HCC) are healthcare system partners that come together to plan strategies for responding to local events. The purpose of HCCs is to ensure local healthcare partners plan collaboratively for the risks facing their community and identify available local resources. HCC members & partners train and exercise together to maximize local capabilities related to disaster planning, response, recovery and mitigation. The Tampa Bay HMPC also encourages the involvement of local, community-based partners. These memberships are crucial for ensuring the coordination of preparedness, response, recovery, and mitigation activities.

Day two of the 2024 National Healthcare Coalition Preparedness Conference. Great morning session on mass casualty preparedness and lessons learned from the Ybor City mass shooting incident with Major Eric DeFelice of the Tampa Police Department, Chief Christopher Shipp of Tampa Fire Rescue, and Erinn Skiba, Assistant Director of Public Safety at Tampa General Hospital. Hunter Zager, our preparedness coordinator for the Tampa Bay Health & Medical Preparedness Coalition, delivered a highly instructive afternoon presentation titled "One Bite at a Time: Testing Pieces of Your Plans with Virtual Drills and Progressive Exercises."
