The FP-4400 portable clamp-on ultrasonic flow meter is ideal for flow testing during test and balance. It is also useful for temporary flow monitoring in existing systems to establish baseline demand data.
Mechanical Sales Engineer at Clapp Associates, Inc.
I recently had a customer who had a problem with their inline electro-magnetic meter reading only half of what the flow in the chilled water line should read.
With the system running at 50%, they were expecting the flow to be around 700 GPM.
After trouble-shooting and coming up empty handed, I decided to give the Onicon FP-4400 portable clamp-on ultrasonic meter a try to confirm the inline mag meter was in fact reading half of the flow.
It turns out, the pump curve was not correct for this application and the inline mag meter was working correctly.
Without having a clamp-on ultrasonic meter to compare flow, we would have to schedule a shut down to remove the meter and send back to factory for repair only to re-install and have the same issue.
Clapp Associates offers the Onicon FP-4400 clamp-on ultrasonic meter for rent. If you would like to inquire about renting this meter, please contact me.
At Air Monitor, we know that airflow measurement is not a one-size-fits-all business—that’s why we will spend time with you to ensure that our airflow measurement systems meet your unique needs. We are the only dedicated airflow solutions provider with expertise in thermal dispersion, differential pressure, and static difference across a fixed resistance measurement technology. ONICON clamp-on ultrasonic flow meters are designed to deliver highly accurate flow measurement in hydronic and domestic water applications without system shutdown or cutting into the pipe. Clamp-on ultrasonic transit time technology measures the flow velocity of relatively clean liquids in full pipes in a non-invasive way.
