  • Divya Kulkarni: A journey of a dreamer and a dancer For Divya Kulkarni , working at Tata Chemicals was always a dream come true! Born and raised in Gujarat in a close-knit Marathi joint family, Divya grew up with big ambitions, fueled by her father’s unwavering support. “He raised us all equally—no separate rules for sons or daughters,” she proudly shares. From her school days in Baroda to studying Chemical Engineering in Bharuch, Divya was clear about one thing: she wanted to work at Tata Chemicals. Her dream came true when during her final year of college, she secured a placement at the Mithapur plant, an opportunity that brought equal parts excitement and challenge. Leaving her family for the first time, Divya felt homesick as she began her new chapter in Mithapur. “It wasn’t easy, but I slowly found my rhythm. My colleagues became my family away from home.” Over the years, her workplace became a space of learning, growth, and camaraderie. With just 28 people on the team when she joined in 2016, Divya is now an integral member in establishing systems and processes in the Vacuum Salt department, working both in control systems and on the field. Mithapur’s natural beauty became an added bonus for Divya, who found solace in its peaceful environment. “For someone who loves nature, this place feels magical,” she says. Divya’s life outside work is as vibrant as her career. A trained Bharatnatyam dancer, she often choreographs performances for Tata Chemicals' annual events and Navratri celebrations and even sits as a judge. “Dancing is my passion. If I wasn’t an engineer, I’d probably be a professional dancer,” she laughs. Sports have also played a significant role in her life. From badminton to hockey, Divya’s active college years earned her several accolades. Now, her husband, who also works at Tata Chemicals, is her biggest supporter. Together, they’ve built a life filled with mutual encouragement and shared goals. Recently, Divya embraced a new role: motherhood. Balancing work, family, and her passion projects, she’s grateful for the support system Tata Chemicals has provided throughout her nine-year journey. “It’s not just a workplace—it’s my second home,” she says with a smile. When she’s not working or dancing, you can find Divya indulging in her favorite samosas, watching biopics, or enjoying episodes of Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah. Her story is one of resilience, passion, and unyielding optimism—a true testament to the ethos of Tata Chemicals and the culture that nurtures dreams. Join us in celebrating the #WomenOfTataChemicals as we uncover their stories, each woman thriving #InHerElement in her own unique way!

  • Much of our biodiversity is today facing serious threats due to the rampant spread of alien invasive flora species, urbanisation and growing need of open spaces. We are attempting to revitalise the green cover and protect our biodiversity across the globe. Our Magadi unit with extensive efforts has been maintaining Lake Magadi, which has become an attraction for animals seeking respite from the heat near the water, particularly during the cooler evening hours. The area has also witnessed antelopes and zebras grazing along the shores, including wildebeests and Somali ostriches, revitalising the natural beauty of the area. To protect local flora and fauna, our Mithapur unit established a Botanical Reserve, since which there has been a steady improvement in biodiversity in the area. Endangered and vulnerable fauna species like the Star tortoise, Eurasian Marsh Harrier, Indian Pangolin, Barn Owl and the Spotted Owlet have been spotted here. More than 11 species of raptors along with jackals, hyena and leopard have been observed in the wildlife predator community at Mithapur. These initiatives have helped us in knitting conservation awareness and action programs together – an important factor for achievement of the sustainable development goals. #InternationalBiodiversityDay #WidlifeConservation #TataChemicals
