About us
Welcome to the official page of the Tax Practitioners Board (TPB). Follow us for regular updates on all TPB news. Feel free to engage in conversation and be part of our community. We are a national body responsible for the registration and regulation of tax agents and BAS agents (collectively referred to as 'tax practitioners'). We are also responsible for ensuring compliance with the Tax Agent Services Act 2009 (TASA), including the Code of Professional Conduct (Code). This is achieved by: - administering a system to register tax practitioners, ensuring they have the necessary competence and personal attributes - providing guidelines and information on relevant matters - investigating conduct that may breach the TASA, including non-compliance with the Code, and breaches of the civil penalty provisions - imposing administrative sanctions for non-compliance with the Code. The TPB consists of a Board and Chair appointed by the Assistant Treasurer and staff made available by the Commissioner of Taxation. The Administrative Review Tribunal refused to stay or suspend 3 of our sanctions against disqualified tax agents. In each of these cases, we took action to protect the public with bans on seeking re-registration of up to 4 years after the tax agents made false and misleading statements, in breach of honesty and integrity obligations. The decisions related to: 🔹Shonek Raj Diwakar, SNS Diwakar Pty Ltd and Tax on the Beach Pty Ltd 🔹Constantine Kambourakis 🔹Ruaidhri Carslake and Can Do Accounting Services Pty Ltd Find out what else happened: https://ow.ly/k73b50UHkSe
