About us

Founded in 2003, TaYA formerly known as Talent Youth Association, is an indigenous, non-governmental organization that is built upon the premise that youth are the promise of the successful development of Ethiopia. In order to be productive, influential leaders of the future, young women and men need the knowledge and opportunities to be healthy and self-reliant. We provide youth these opportunities to enable themselves and work towards an Ethiopia of promise, gender equality, and economic and environmental strength. We envision Ethiopia’s youth leading the nation as healthy, productive, and successful citizens. Our mission is to promote the health and well-being of Ethiopia’s youth by not only eliminating barriers but also enabling them to realize their full potential. It focuses on HIV/AIDS and sexual reproductive health issues, while enabling youth employment and leadership within the community.

Our Women’s Economic Empowerment project in Aysaita Woreda, Afar Regional State, funded by Folkekirkens Nødhjælp (DanChurchAid) was honored with a visit from Mrs. Moferiyat Kamil, Minister of the Ministry of Labour and Skills. The project focuses on empowering young women through self-employment, enabling them to establish small enterprises in Aysaita. During the visit, a bazaar showcased four women-led enterprises, including two model Self-Help Groups (SHGs) from our target village, Rumayto. This visit marks a significant milestone for our organization, solidifying our presence and impact in supporting the people of Afar. Over the past week, we have gained recognition from regional stakeholders, and now we are proud to receive acknowledgment from federal authorities as well. We remain steadfast in our mission and will continue driving meaningful change with determination and hope. #womenempowerment #SDGs #Leavenoonebehind #Dignifiedemployment

We are at the @UNFPAEthiopia partners 2024 program review and planning for 2025 kick-started and will be ongoing for the next three days! #Ethiopia In 2024, we made significant strides in advancing adolescent and youth development in Ethiopia, thanks to the invaluable support of @UNFPAEthiopia. Key accomplishments include: - Hiber Forum: An annual platform focused on adolescent and youth development, designed to facilitate meaningful interactions between young people and policymakers. The forum empowers youth to advocate for issues that directly impact their lives. - Ybuntu: With grant support, we strengthened the capacity of Ybuntu, a youth peacebuilding alliance in Ethiopia. Comprising over 60 youth-led and youth-serving organizations nationwide. Ybuntu is dedicated to fostering positive peace throughout the country. - AfriYAN Ethiopia Chapter: In 2024, we successfully established the Ethiopia chapter of @AfriYANESA the African regional network on adolescent and youth sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR). This chapter aims to advance advocacy efforts at the regional level in collaboration with the African Union Commission and other regional bodies.
