We convene cross-sector collaboratives on the most transformative economic opportunities in Pennsylvania: agriculture, energy, and manufacturing, with plans to launch a future collaboration in life sciences/biotech. Each collaborative includes the commonwealth’s top policy-makers and business leaders, as well as leaders of labor, academia, and nonprofits. Together, we tackle the issues that no one sector can address alone to position Pennsylvania as a leader among states and a competitor among nations, maximizing impact for the commonwealth while creating equity and economic opportunity for all Pennsylvanians.

Team Pennsylvania recently partnered with the Clean Air Task Force (CATF) to host a statewide conversation on industrial decarbonization. This event, held in Pittsburgh at the Energy Innovation Center, brought together perspectives from the US Department of Energy, state agencies, Pennsylvania businesses, environmental and labor organizations to discuss these trends and the opportunities for economic growth driven by lean, community-first business practice. More than 100 leaders from business, labor, academia and the public and private sectors attended. Exciting news coming out of Penn Medicine, University of Pennsylvania Health System thanks to the leadership and hard work of Team Pennsylvania board directors Kevin Mahoney and Amanda Cappelletti!

Yesterday, we had the honor of hosting Senator Amanda Cappelletti as she presented a $375,000 state grant to the Penn Institute for RNA Innovation. This funding will support groundbreaking research into how RNA therapeutics could potentially prevent celiac disease, a chronic autoimmune condition affecting 1 in 133 Americans. I'm proud to see Pennsylvania leading the charge in advancing medical research, especially for diseases like celiac, which impacts so many families. This initiative is deeply personal, as families like the Bari family, including 11 year old Jax Bari, whose advocacy was instrumental in securing this funding, are living proof of the need for progress. Under the leadership of Dr. Drew Weissman, Penn's researchers are exploring how RNA could revolutionize treatments not just for infectious diseases, but for autoimmune conditions as well. I'm excited to see how this research unfolds and am grateful to Senator Cappelletti for her ongoing support of life-changing medical advancements.
