  • Good news is fun to talk about. But do you share challenges and struggles at your company All-Hands? Sager Davidson hits on some really interesting ideas about the power of "being real" with your team. Hearing about both the good, and the not-so-good, from leaders can often lead to increased trust and camaraderie across the entire organization. Episode 5 of "Technically Leading" has not one but *three* guests -- Sager Davidson, ⚡️Will O., and Christopher Hand -- who I've somehow convinced to chat with me, Adam Campbell, for an hour of insights and memories and laughs about our experiences leading early-stage teams. Listen now -- the link is in the comments!

  • Recording a double-header this week! First up is Suzanne Willard, VP of Engineering at VideoAmp. Really looking forward to hearing about Suzanne's experiences on the various teams she's lead. Later this week I will be chatting with Greg Skerman -- team leader, coach, and speaker -- to hear his thoughts on building teams that move fast and *don't* break things. Follow our page for notifications when these episodes drop!

  • Building a company is really hard, so it sure helps to do it with people you trust. In that spirit, we have a special episode coming this week where I speak with not one but *three* guests. I also happen to know these guests really well, since we all helped build a startup together -- one that ended up raising the largest A-round in our state. Excited to share the full episode where I talk and laugh with ⚡️Will O., Christopher Hand, and Sager Davidson about the joys and pains of leadership and building a company at an early-stage startup. Episode 5 drops this Wednesday. (And yes, Will is joining from his own personal arcade)

Can you trust your team to give you the full picture? People in software tend to think in absolutes -- we want to know what the data says. But when it comes to your team, and the factors that influence their productivity, is data the full story? In this clip, Laura Tacho of DX examines the balance between the anecdotal and the empirical when it comes to measuring productivity.

You can't just clone success. You can learn from the experiences of others, but in most things there's no true "plug-and-play" or "one-size-fits-all" solution. This is especially true for measuring productivity: at best you frustrate your team -- at worst you careen the course of their careers. Laura Tacho of DX digs into why its so important to uniquely define productivity for your team before trying to measure it. Full episode coming this week!
