Founded in 2006, Techstars is on a mission to invest in startups to enable more capital to flow to more entrepreneurs around the world in order to deliver exceptional returns to our investors. We do this by operating accelerator programs and venture capital funds, as well as by connecting startups, investors, corporations, and cities to help build thriving startup communities. Our results show why Techstars is Better for Founders than any other global accelerator: On average, 74.5% of Techstars companies will raise money within 3 years of their program; 18.5% of Techstars portfolio companies have exited 5 years after their program and 31.1% after eight years. Brothers Craig Smith and Cole Smith recognized the challenges of buying a car and created Visor—a smarter, more user-friendly solution. 🚗 Visor is a pivot from their first startup, Currents (Techstars 2024), that helped people manage and track their possessions. Currents was among the first group to go through Techstars Columbus Powered by The Ohio State University and laid the groundwork for the creation of Visor. When comparing Visor to other competitors such as CarMax and Carvana, Craig Smith (Cofounder & CEO) explains, "These sites help dealers sell you a car. They do not help consumers buy a car." Visor stands out by offering transparent, searchable data to help users find the best deals. Since its launch, the app has gained over 8,000 users, all without any advertising. NaviSavi Travel (Techstars 2023) is a short-form video travel marketplace for users, creators, and businesses to inspire, plan, and book trips and license UGC content in a single platform. Sally recently secured key partnerships with tourism boards, airlines, and OTAs to boost brand visibility and market penetration.
